    • PURPOSE: To eliminate the degrading characteristic in the central part of plate thickness and improve breakdown toughness by hot rolling a steel material ingot cont. prescribed amts. of C, Mn, P, S as basic components under specific conditions.
      CONSTITUTION: A steel contg. ≤0.3% C, 0.5W2.5% Mn, ≤0.02% P, and ≤0.01% S as basic components and if necessary, contg. other specific elements is produced. The ingot produced by continuosly casting this steel is heated to rollable temps., after which it is reduced of thickness down to intermediate stage thickness under the conditions wherein the composite pass rolling effect (CIRE) expressed by the equation is kept at ≤0.02. Thence, it is subjected to heat treatment according to the intermediate stage thickness, after which it is hot-rolled down to the final thickness.
