    • PURPOSE:To obtain easily penetration beads of a projecting shape with better arc concentratability and less surface tension, by adapting an electrode having the forward end part worked to a cylindrical shape to all attitude TIG welding of butt parts. CONSTITUTION:Penetration beads of a projecting shape are formed by using an electrode which is columnar on the side face in the forward end part of the electrode near the arc generating part, is circular in the sectional shape at the forward end in the columnar part and is roughly plane on the forward end face in the case of subjecting the single V or U groove butt parts of steel pipes to penetration welding with an automatic TIG welder in all attitudes. Since the concentratability of the arc is good in the above-mentioned method, only the required part on the groove faces melts and the good penetration beads of a projecting shape are stably obtained in the state of forming molten metal.

    • PURPOSE:To realize an automatic butt welding with a combination of a simple system and device, by moving the bevel working device and then the automatic welding machine along the circular track substance attached outside each pipe to be welded and in parallel to the face of the pipe end. CONSTITUTION:The circular track substance 1 is attached detachably outside the oblique-cut and right-angle cut pipes 7 and 9 by the fixing tool 6 and in parallel to the plane including each pipe end face. Then an automatic welding machine incorporating the welding torch, the welding wire feeding device and others is mounted to the substance 1 which is attached to one pipe to be welded in parallel to the face including the welding line. The welding machine is then moved along the substance 1 to secure a mutual butting between both pipe ends for an automatic welding.

    • PURPOSE:To enable all position non-gap TIG automatic welding of fixed tube, by providing two gas pressure controlling nozzles at right angles to the direction of advance of welding and one in the rear around the electrode, feeding the wire from the front, and thereby cooling the arc and the surface of motlen pool and performing root pass penetration welding. CONSTITUTION:An arc is deflected to the front by gas jetted from the rear to the direction of advance of welding. At the same time, the surface of molten metal right under the arc is cooled forcibly to form a solidified layer positively. The arc is narrowed down thinly in vertical direction by jetting gas from nozzles 7-2, 7-3 for gas pressure controlling and concentrative force of the arc is heightened and arc force is strengthened to enable penetration welding. At the same time, molten metal on the side of groove is checked by jetting gas shown by the arrow 7' to form a solidified layer positively. Thus, root pass penetration welding is performed stably at all times and at all positions.

    • PURPOSE:To form the stable weld zone free from burn-through by contacting the backing strip of the specific shape to the arbitrary position on the back side of the groove of butted stationary pipes and applying arc welding with the position of the vertex of said contact surface as a start point. CONSTITUTION:In automatic TIG welding of the butt portions of stationary pipes 1a, 1b, a short-length backing strip 2 having the radius of curvature smaller than the inside diameter of the pipes is contacted to the arbitrary position on the back side of the groove and the TIG welding is started by generating an arc from an electrode 4 while spouting shielding gas from a welding torch 2 to the groove part 2a in the vertex position of said contact surface. Since the radius of curvature of the backing strip is smaller than the inside diameter of the pipe, the contact becomes linear and the spacing between the inside surface of the pipes and the groove bottom of the backing strip is maintained constant, and this makes possible the stable arc starting. In addition, the sheilding gas flows along the curved surface of the backing strip and therefore there is no likelihood for causing turbulence and the weld beads free from defects are formed.
