    • PURPOSE:To eliminate interference fringes and to improve the impact resistance and weatherability after antireflection coating by laminating a primer layer, a hard coat layer and an antireflection layer on the surface of a base material and, using specific polyurethane as the primer layer. CONSTITUTION:The primer layer which has a refractive index np satisfying the conditions of equation I and a film thickness d satisfying the conditions of equation II is formed on the surface of the plastic lens base material having the refractive index nS within a range from 1. 50 to 1. 70. The hard coat layer and the single or multilayered antireflection layers formed by vapor deposition of an inorg. material are laminated in this order from the lens surface. The primer layer is formed of the polyurethane which contains at least one selected from halogen atoms and sulfur atoms exclusive of fluorine and has the refractive index np within a range from 1.45 to 1.60. In the equation I, nS is the refractive index of the plastic base material; nH is the refractive index of the hard coat layer ; the refractive indices are both the refractive indices to light of 550nm wavelength. In the equation II, lambda is the wavelength of visible light and is 450 to 650nm.

    • PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance and to prevent the contamination of a hard coat liquid by using thermosetting polymer urethane as polyurethane for forming a primer layer. CONSTITUTION:The thermosetting polymer urethane is used as the polyurethane for forming the primer layer. The primer layer consisting of the thermosetting polymer urethane is provided between the plastic lens and the hard coat layer in this case and, therefore, even the lens formed by providing an antireflection film layer on the hard coat layer has excellent impact resistance and meets the requirements specified by FDA of the United States and has the higher impact resistance than the lens provided with the primer layer consisting of thermoplastic polyurethane. Even if the lens provided with the primer layer is immersed to the hard coat liquid, the polyurethane which is the primer component has a thermosetting property and, therefore, the primer layer does not elute in the hard coat liquid and there is no possibility that the hard coat liquid is contaminated. The homogeneous plastic lens is obtd. in such a manner.
