    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a short steel tube with thick-walled end with excellent yield by upsetting each end of a long tube to from a thick-walled part, cutting and inverting the tube at appropriate parts other than the thick-walled part, achieving the butt welding of the thick-walled parts to each other, and upsetting each tube end to be cut at the welded parts. SOLUTION: A long steel tube 1 before upsetting is upset, tube-end thick- walled parts 2a, 2b are formed on each tube end, the tube is cut at the position A of 1/3 of the whole length, and inverted, the thick-walled parts 2a, 2b are welded to each other to form a welded long steel tube 6. The stet tube 6 is upset thick-walled parts 7a, 7b are formed on each tube end, the tube is cut at the position B of 1/3 of the whole length, and inverted, the thick-walled parts 7a, 7b are welded to from a welded long steel tube 11. In addition, each tube end is upset to from a long steel tube 12 having thick-walled parts at two parts, i.e., the tube end and an intermediate part, weld seams 5, 10 of the intermediate thick-walled part are cut to form three short tube end thick-walled tubes. The cutting parts A, B for forming the short tubes are appropriately selected.

    • PURPOSE:To aim at the optimization of clamping torque by clamping a special joint system, consisting of a joint with an internal thread on an inner circumferential surface and a pipe with an external thread on the outer circumferential surface, as long as the setting time as detecting a shoulder touch, in such a control method as clamping the internal thread to the external thread after being screwed in. CONSTITUTION:A special joint 1 is thread-joined by an internal thread 2 installed on a double-end inner circumferential surface and an external thread 4 threaded on each outer circumferential surface of pipes 3a, 3b, through which it is metal-sealed. This is a control method that clamps this special joint 1 after each end of these pipes 3a, 3b performs a shoulder touch with a shoulder part 6, setting the clamping time of clamping torque of thread part + shoulder seal. Next, thread clamping takes place as detecting the shoulder touch and, after detection of the shoulder touch, these threads are clamped as long as the setting time, and when this time elapses, the clamping is over. In consequence, since a proper contact pressure is given to the shoulder seal part, stable clamping can be done.
