摘要： PURPOSE:To extend the life of a break ring and to improve the quality of a billet by setting the taper angle at the break ring attaching end of a horizontal mold at an ange larger by a specific angle than the taper angle of the break ring. CONSTITUTION:The taper angle theta1 at the break ring attaching end of the horizontal mold 4 is formed larger by an angle of a 1-2 deg. range than the tape angle theta2 of the outside peripheral surface of the break ring 1. The lapping in the stage of attaching the ring 1 to the mold 4 can be exactly and quickly executed by such setting of the angles theta1, theta2. The penetration of a molten metal to be joint part between the ring 1 and the mold 4 is thus decreased. The life of the ring is extended and the quality of the product billet is improved by the above-mentioned method.

摘要： PURPOSE:To remove slippage of relative positions of gears due to thermal deformation of a converter body so as to keep good engagement, by installing a driving mechanism for a rotary nozzle cassette on a base plate on which the cassette of the tapping hole of the converter is placed. CONSTITUTION:A rotary nozzle cassette 6 is placed on a base plate 5 which is attached onto the outlet flange 4 of a tapping hole of a converter 1. On the extension of the base plate 5 is placed a motor 8 for driving the cassette, and a reduction gear 7 in order to engage a cassette idle gear 9 with the gear 10 of the reduction gear 7. Both the gears 9, 10 are placed on the same base plate 5, hence good engagement is kept without change in relative positions even when the furnace body 1 is deformed thermally.

摘要： PURPOSE:To save energy in the stage of projecting shot balls to the billet and removing a surface flaw by drying the shot balls after projection by the heat retained in the billet. CONSTITUTION:The shot balls 3 projected from a shot ball projector 1 toward a billet 2 are circulated and supplied into a hopper 4 through a connection pipe 12 from the projector 1 by the heated air from a heat exchanger 8. The balls 3 moistened by the cooling water, etc. of the billet 2 in the stage of being projected to the billet 2 are thoroughly dried while the balls are transferred to the hopper 4 by the high temp. air, through the connection pipe 12. On the other hand, the air fed through the pipe 12 into the hopper 4 is fed from the hopper 4 to a dust collector 5, where the dust in the air is removed and the air is then dehumidified in a dehumidifier 6. The dehumidified air enters a blower 7. The air from the blower 7 is fed to the heat exchanger 8 and after the air is heated therein, the air is fed again to the pipe 12.
