    • PURPOSE:To speed up and simplify the exchange of casting molds, to permit small lot production of different diameters and to improve productivity by exchanging the casting mold with a dummy bar-contg. casting mold after closing of a gate, welding the rear end of the already cast ingot and dummy bar and restarting casting. CONSTITUTION:After the gate 4 of a tundish 1 for storing a molten metal 2 is closed, the used casting mold 7 on a carriage 12a is exchanged with the dummy bar-contg. casting mold 16 on a carriage 12b. The rear end of the already cast ingot 10 and the dummy bar 16 are welded by a welding machine 15 and thereafter the horizontal and continuous casting is restarted by opening the gate 4. The exchange of the casting mold in the breakout stage is made quick and simple, by which the productivity is improved and the small lot production of different diameters is made possible. The exchange of the casting molds may be executed by any of methods for exchanging the casting molds with vertically supporting side arms by swiveling the casting molds with each other, exchanging the casting molds having arms for horizontally and pivotally supporting the molds in a casting direction at both ends by swiveling the same or sliding the casting molds supported by cross slide gates.

    • PURPOSE:To recover slag having a low P2O5 content and reusability by inserting a cooling body into molten slag having a high P2O5 content and separating the slag having much P2O5 content, stuck to the cooling body and solidified. CONSTITUTION:In the slug at the time of executing pre-phosphorizing refining to molten iron or the slag at the time of executing steelmaking refining with a converter, as P2O5 is concentrated in dicalcium silicate (2CaO.SiO2) composition, these molten slags 3 are charged into a vessel 1 composed of steel-made outer plate 5 lines with graphite lining 7 and refractory 6. The metal-made flat plate-like cooling body 2 having water supplying/draining part 9, is dipped into the molten slag 3 and the slag is cooled with circulating flow of the cooling water and the dicalcium silicate phase 4 having high P2O5 and high m.p. is stuck to the periphery of the cooling body and solidified and taken out from the molten slag 3. This treatment is repeated and the P2O5 content in the remaining molten slag 3 is reduced and the slag having high P2O5 content is utilized as phosphatic fertilizer.
