    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for joining a thermoplastic resin pipe by which a resin pipe with a high RCP resistance can be manufactured at a low cost, and also to provide a method for joining a thermoplastic resin pipe by which it is possible to ensure the performance of a highly reliable joining process even when the resin pipes of significantly different materials are joined together. SOLUTION: This method for joining the thermoplastic resin pipes comprises the steps to interpose a tubular joint between two pieces of thermoplastic resin pipe to be joined together, then butt both edge faces of the tubular joint into the edge faces of the two thermoplastic resin pipes to be joined together, and to fusion-bond and join the tubular joint and the two thermoplastic resin pipes to be joined together by the frictional heat generated through rotating the tubular joint. In this method, the tubular joint is formed of a different material from the two thermoplastic resin pipes to be joined together. Further, the tubular joint is preferably to be formed of a material showing higher resistance to rapid cracks development than two thermoplastic resin pipes to be joined together, or is preferably to be formed of a moderate quality of material to the material of the latter.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that two pressure contact joining faces are required, the treatment of pressure contact burr is complicated, and the treatment of a joint for pressure contact after pressure contact is completed is troublesome in a conventional pressure contact system in which end faces of resin pipes oppose mutually, a tubular joint is arranged therebetween and is rotated, and they are mutually fused and joined due to friction heat generated at that time. SOLUTION: The end faces of thermoplastic resin pipes oppose mutually, and a flat plate made of thermoplastic resin is arranged therebetween and is rotated to fuse and join them mutually due to friction heat generated at that time. At this time, the fused flat plate is pushed out of a pressure contact face of the resin pipes to limit a pressure contact joining face to one section. Moreover, the flat plate is moved in the axial direction of the resin pipes when they are brought into pressure contact to form pressure contact burr having a satisfactory shape. Furthermore, the flat plate is formed by abutting a plurality of members to facilitate its removal from the resin pipes after pressure contact is completed.
