    • PURPOSE:To enable the measurement in small size with high accuracy by using the first and second distance meters utilizing a laser beam source and by subtracting the distance between the steel plate face and distance meter of the case of interposing the steel plate from the distance between the distance meters of the case of interposing no steel plate between the distance meters. CONSTITUTION:In the hot rolling stage a steel plate 10 is transferred on a roller table 12 and the plate thickness measuring instrument 14 to measure the thickness of the steel plate 10 is provided freely movably in the direction intersecting at right angles with the transfer direction of the steel plate 10. A frame 40 is stored in the housing 47 of the instrument 14 and distance meter 26, 28 is fitted to the frame 40. A laser beam source 30 and image sensor 32 are provided on the distance meter 26 to measure the distance L1 upto the back face of the steel plate. The distance meter 28 is made similarly as well and the distance L2 upto the back face of the steel plate is measured. An arithmetic unit 52 subtracts the distance L1, L2 from the distance Th between the distance meters 26, 28 prior to the steel plate being transferred and the plate thickness measurement in small size with high accuracy can be performed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of damage on the surface of a steel strip and a flaw on a roll with arc caused by passing current conducting the steel strip by disposing grounding rolls for leakage current from an electrolytic vessel at an inlet side and an outlet side in an electrolytic vessel for steel strip. CONSTITUTION:The steel strip X passes through an alkali dip washing vessel 4 and is introduced into the electrolytic vessel 6 through a first brushing scrubber 5, and by conducting the electric current with electrodes 60a-60d, 61a, 61b and 62a-62d, the surface of steel strip X is electrolitically washed and again introduced into a rising vessel 8 through a second brushing scrubber 7, and after water-washing, this is dried with a dryer 9 and taken out. In this case, as the leakage current is developed at front and rear parts of the electrolytic vessel 6, the rolls 23a-23g for turning over the direction of steel strip X in the electrolytic vessel 6 are made of an electrical insulting rubber and also by grounding the rolls 10, 11 in the alkali dip washing vessel 4 and outlet side roll 12 in the dryer 9, it is prevented to generate the arc between the surface of steel strip X and the rolls 10-12, and the damage of steel strip and rolls with the arc is prevented.
