    • PURPOSE:To rotate at a high speed by mounting a plurality of commutators made of sector-shaped segments and a flat platelike holder integrally formed therewith at an equal interval circumferentially on a rotary shaft, and filling an inorganic material between a window opening formed at the flat plate part and a window hole. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of commutator segments 161, 162-16n formed by integrating sector-shaped segment body 17 and a flat platelike holding member 18 are arranged at an equal internal on its circumference. Commutator segment group is disposed outside a bush 14 fixed to a shaft 12 through a knurled part 13. A window hole 191 is opened at the flat plate of the holding member 18. Inorganic material 20 such as silica alumina, etc.,m is filled between the bush 14 and the commutator segment group, between the commutator segments and in the window hole 191, baked and solidified. Thus, a commutator durable against a high speed rotation is manufactured.

    • PURPOSE:To increase the space factor of a field coil, by a method where in a cross angle between the tubular section of a coil bobbin, made of resin, and the abutting part of an outside reel frame against the inner peripheral surface of a tublar yoke is determined so as to correspond to the cross angle between a field iron core and the inner peripheral surface of the yoke. CONSTITUTION:A coil bobbin 4 is provided with: a tubular section 41 for winding a field coil 5; an inside reeling frame 42, provided at the fore end of the tubular section 41, an outside reeling frame 43, provided behind the tubular section 41, and insulating papers 44, 45 for insulating the inside reeling frame 42 from the magnetic pole piece 33 of a field magnetic pole 3. In this case, the coil bobbin 4 is formed so that the slant angle of the inner peripheral surface 41a of the tubular section 41 becomes theta at the lengthwise parts 41b, 41c. The angle theta is determined in accordance with a radius of curvature obtained by the inner periphery of the yoke 2, the width of the field magnet iron core 32 and the height of the field coil 5, which is the length between the yoke side end of the field coil 5 and the magnetic pole piece side end of the same.

    • PURPOSE:To assemble a clutch cover without a restriction on pinion diameter by engaging a collar portion of a clutch cover with the end surface of a clutch outer at the opposite side to a pinion. CONSTITUTION:A helical spline 1a of a spline tube 1 is engaged with a shaft of a starter motor, and a cylindrical clutch outer 2 integrally formed with the tube 1 has a cam face on the inner periphery thereof. A clutch inner 3 confronts with the cam face 2a of the clutch outer 2. A sleeve portion 9a and a collar portion 9b pressed to the outer periphery of the clutch outer 2 are formed on a clutch cover 9. The sleeve portion 9a is brought into contact with the other end surface 2c of the clutch outer 2 and the other end portion 9b is fastened round a half member 7 extending from the outer periphery to the end portion to connect the clutch outer 2 and the inner 3 to each other. The reference numeral 4 designates a pinion.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the early-stage wear of a bush provided on a housing and obtain a light-weight starter by removably supporting the outer periphery of a clutch outer on said housing via a housing bush. CONSTITUTION:The outer periphery of a clutch outer 1 is removably supported by a housing bush 2 which is press-fittedly fixed to a housing 3. Accordingly, when an engine is started and even if a pinion 5 is overly rotated at a high speed by a ring gear 9, the rotation is not transmitted to the clutch outer 1 due to the inner 4 and the roller 6 of an overrunning clutch. Thereby, the rotation of the clutch outer 1 is a low speed rotation at about the same speed as the non-load rotation of a motor, without causing wear due to a high speed rotation. Also, by removably supporting a clutch outer 1, the dimension from a housing installing surface can be reduced, enabling a device to be lightened by that amount.
