    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pressing roll, calender roll for a paper-making machine and a method for pressing a band-shaped sheet and to attain the thin rolling even in the case where the band-shaped sheet has a relatively hard parts on the edge part.
      SOLUTION: In the pressing roll that is equipped with a center shaft 11 that is supported as its rotation is partially restricted, with a cylindrical roll cell 12 that is rotatably arranged around the center shaft 11 and the both ends are rotatably supported to the center shaft 11 and with a plurality of sheet-pressing shoes 15, 21 that is smoothly contacted to the inner peripheral surface of the roll cells 12 arranged in the shaft direction on the center shaft 11. The running band-shaped sheet 1 is nipped between the counter roll and the roll cell 12 mutually opposing each other and the band-shaped sheet 1 is pressed with a plurality of sheet-pressing shoes 15 from the inside of the roll cell 12, among of a plurality of the sheet-pressing shoes 15, 21, the width of the shoes 21 at the positions of the both edges is made wider than that of the other shoe 15 for pressing the sheet.
