    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a drive circuit for a power converter capable of transmitting a plurality of signals for controlling a gate without increasing the number of components nor cost.
      SOLUTION: The drive circuit for a power converter is constituted of a driver section 4 which inputs a command created by superimposing a plurality of control commands output from a control unit on one command and outputs a signal for driving a voltage drive type switching element, a separation circuit 5 separating the signals output from the driver section into a plurality of control signals, a first gate resistor 6a, a second gate resistor 6b having one end connected in series to the first gate resistor 6a and the other end connected to the gate terminal of the voltage drive type switching element, and a gate resistor changing switch 7 connected in parallel to the first gate resistor 6a, wherein the gate resistor changing switch 7 is operated based on the control signal output from the separation circuit 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the upper lower short-circuit of an inverter circuit by determining the presence of abnormality from the outputs of the first comparator which judge whether detected voltage is near a positive electrode and the second comparator which judges whether it is near a negative electrode, and the output of an ignition signal which on/off-controls a semiconductor element for switching. SOLUTION: A control means 10a determines the presence of abnormality in self-arc-extinguishing element 51a, 51d and a circuit which outputs an ignition signal to the self-arc-extinguishing elements 51a, 51d from the outputs of a comparator 11a (the first comparator which judges whether output voltage VO is near a positive electrode) for VP and a comparator 12a (the second comparator which judges whether output voltage VO is near a negative electrode) for VN, and from the output of an ignition signal which on/off-controls the self-arc-extinguishing elements 51a, 51d as a semiconductor element for switching. If any abnormality is found, switching of a semiconductor element for switching which faces the semiconductor element for switching which had abnormality is shut down by a shunt-down circuit.
