    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately control pulses generated by an electric discharge machining power supply apparatus to further stabilize machining, and reduce an electrode wear amount when a short circuit occurs.SOLUTION: The electric discharge machining power supply apparatus machines an object to be machined by interrupting every predetermined time period pulse trains that are turned on and off at predetermined timing and supplying electric power to a machining gap between a machining electrode and the object to be machined. The electric discharging machining power supply apparatus includes: a short circuit detecting means for detecting a short circuit at the machining gap between the machining electrode and the object to be machined by applying a short circuit detecting pulse to the machining gap between the machining electrode and the object to be machined during a break period in the pulse trains; and a pulse halting means for stopping the generation of particular pulses in the pulse train so as to halt the power supply to the machining gap when the short circuit detecting means detects the occurrence of the short circuit at the machining gap.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a final-stage transistor generates an excessive output for thermal breakdown if load fluctuation occurs in an operation state at an overvoltage power supply.
      SOLUTION: An overvoltage output protection circuit 71 for a power amplifier comprises monitor circuits (Trf1-Trf4) which allow a current to flow when an overvoltage output is monitored at an output transistor Tr3 at a final stage of a power amplifier 51, and current mirror circuits (Trm1 and Trm2) that supply a current proportional to the current from the monitor circuit. The output of the output transistor Tr3 at the final stage is suppressed by lowering the base bias of a first-stage transistor Tr1 using the current supplied from the current mirror circuit.
