    • PURPOSE:To transmit the information read out of only an original and to improve the transmitting efficiency, by using a ground paper containing a pattern for detection of an original region and obtaining a signal showing the original region from a picture signal that reads the original on the ground paper. CONSTITUTION:A ground paper 8 contains an area detecting pattern (such as a vertically-striped pattern of subscanning direction). Then a signal showing the original region is generated by reading an original 1 put on the paper 8. The original area is detected by scanning over the paper 8 since the area detecting pattern on the paper 8 is covered by the original 1. An AND is obtained between the signal showing the original region and the signal which read the original 1, and only the original area information is selectively extracted out of the facsimile information.

If a human body exists at one unit region within a room, infrared rays emitted from the human body are focused at, for example, a focusing region 11. corresponding to the unit region and are transmitted through the region 10a and enter a sensor 9 from a light-reception surface 9 and then the intensity of infrared rays changes from 0, thus detecting the region where a human being exists, out of a plurality of unit regions in the room with an individual human position detector. Also, by placing the member group 10 between the focusing part 11 and the sensor 9, the member group 10 can be miniaturized and the cost can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To use an inexpensive magnetic tape as the recording medium of a portable computer in place of an expensive memory card by constituting a card size magnetic tape recorder so that the respective required parts are arranged at a prescribed height or below. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 12 and a magnetic tape cassette 13 are held on a card base plate 11 and a driving transmission means including a motor IC that drives the magnetic tape of the cassette 13 and a reel, a pulley 15b and a gear 14c are arranged on the plate 11. Moreover, a driving circuit 16, a control section 17, a data modulation demodulation section 18, a reproducing amplifier 19 and a circuit board 1B are also placed on the plate 11. All of these parts and an IF connector 1A to be attached and detached to and from the card 11 are arranged so that the total height thereof is kept within 10.5mm thereby a card size magnetic tape recorder 20A is constituted. This recorder 20A can use an inexpensive magnetic tape as a computer recording medium.

    • PURPOSE:To improve transmission efficiency without using a device of a complex constitution, by compressing and transmitting a picture signal together with an added scanning-line density specifying signal corresponding to picture information, and performing picture recording operation with scanning-line density specified on a reception side. CONSTITUTION:A scan on an original 1 is made through a light source 2 to output a picture information signal through a photoelectric converter 3 and a binary coding device 4. A picture information density deciding circuit 8 decides on whether the picture information density of said signal is high or low and a scanning-line density switching signal generation part 12 generates a scanning-line density specifying signal. This specifying signal is added to the picture signal through a mixer 5 and the resulting signal is compressed by a compressing circuit 6 to be transmitted to a reception side. This compressed signal is demodulated by a modem on the reception side, a scanning-line density switching signal separating circuit separates the scanning-line density specifying signal, and a scanning-line density switching signal deciding circuit decides on the specifying signal. Then, necessary bits are applied to the scanning-line density switching circuit to control a subscan motor driving circuit, and thus the constitution of the device is simplified to improve transmission efficiency.
