摘要： PURPOSE:To ensure the effective suppression to the redundancy and thus secure the characteristics of the small-number line coding, by giving the reading to the picture signals of continuous and several scanning lines for the picture information distributing in the two-dimensional way in sequence and in the secondary scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:In the case of system A, scanning lines 1, 2 and 3 are collected into scanning line 23A along with the picture elements arranged as 1a, 2a, 3a and so on. Scanning lines 4, 5 and 6 are collected into scanning line 24A with the picture elements arranged as 4a, 5a, 6a and so on. In system B, the sequence is made zigzag for the picture elements to be rearranged. And picture elements 3a/3b, 1b/1c... which are adjacent to each other are also positioned adjacent even after rearrangement. Accordingly, the continuous amount of the same signal increases by the amount of the above arrangement, thus the increment being expected for the redundancy suppression factor when coding. In system C, the sequence of the corresponding picture elements to be rearranged is made upside down with every scanning line group to be collected.

Every time the control signal from the circuit 72 is inputted, the addition part 73 adds the ineffective data to the data on the path A to output data whose total bit numer is a multiple of 8. This processing method allows (n)-bit, i.e. 8-bit multiple-address repeating processing to simplify the circuit constitution of the multiple-address repeating device.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve transmission efficiency without using a device of a complex constitution, by compressing and transmitting a picture signal together with an added scanning-line density specifying signal corresponding to picture information, and performing picture recording operation with scanning-line density specified on a reception side. CONSTITUTION:A scan on an original 1 is made through a light source 2 to output a picture information signal through a photoelectric converter 3 and a binary coding device 4. A picture information density deciding circuit 8 decides on whether the picture information density of said signal is high or low and a scanning-line density switching signal generation part 12 generates a scanning-line density specifying signal. This specifying signal is added to the picture signal through a mixer 5 and the resulting signal is compressed by a compressing circuit 6 to be transmitted to a reception side. This compressed signal is demodulated by a modem on the reception side, a scanning-line density switching signal separating circuit separates the scanning-line density specifying signal, and a scanning-line density switching signal deciding circuit decides on the specifying signal. Then, necessary bits are applied to the scanning-line density switching circuit to control a subscan motor driving circuit, and thus the constitution of the device is simplified to improve transmission efficiency.

Next, switches 203 and 206 are connected to terminals 204 and 206 to code 210 signals of group 1 for two lines at a time, and coded signals are stored in buffer memory unit 211. With switches 203 and 206 connected to terminals 205 and 208, signals of group 2 to coincidence and dissidence signal generating circuit 209. Signals of group 1 are applied to forecasting circuit 801, which forecasts signals between scanning lines, and they are compared 802 with signals of group 2. Then, when both signals agree each other, ''0'' is generated and when disagreeing, ''1'' is generated. This output ''1'' is coded by coder 210 by using a correction signal. Those signals are stored in buffer memory unit 211.

The picture signal binarized is stored in the memory 6 and delivered to the expection unit 7. The expection signal is produced and fed to the comparator 8 where it is compared with actual value, and coding is made by delivering coincidence or uncoincidence signal to the coder 9, and it is delivered to the reception end via the buffer memory 10.

The run length of white or black signal at the head of video signal is taken as initial value, and the changing point distance WBi from white to black of video signal and the changing point distance BWi from black to white are alternately coded. With the conversion processing like this, the run length distribution of each block has sharp centralized distribution characteristics, and since run length is reduced by shifting the origin of the distribution by minimum value each block, the coding efficiency can be improved.
