    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connector suitable for connecting a flat flex ible cable which has a contact pad formed on the upper surface. SOLUTION: This electrical connector is provided with an insulation housing 3, plural terminals 2 mounted to the insulation housing 3, and an actuator 4. The actuator 4 is turnable between an opened position and a closed position via a turn supporting fitting mounted between the terminals 2. Each terminal 2 has a U-shaped contact part 11, provided with an upper contact piece 13 extending along the upper surface of the flat flexible cable 5 inserted into the insulation housing 3, and a lower contact piece 14 extending along the lower surface thereof. When the actuator 4 is turned into the closed position, the actuator 4 presses the contact piece 14 down via the flexible cable 5, and the contact piece 13 is drawn closer to the flexible cable 5 in accordance to this pressing downward, so that a contact 15 formed on the contact piece 13 is brought into press contact and is engaged with the contact pad 26 formed on the upper surface of the flexible cable 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connector which has no risk of an actuator to turn in the direction of releasing a connection state, depending on the arrangement of an FPC. SOLUTION: This connector is composed of an insulation housing 2, plural terminals 3 mounted side by side at a prescribed interval, and the actuator 4, and is so structured that a flat flexible cable 5 is inserted toward the rear side from an insertion hole 6. The actuator 4 is made turnable by the engagement of its base end part with an engagement piece 12 formed on the terminal 3, and can be turned between a first position in an erected form on the insulation housing 2 and a second form laid on the insulation housing, by being turned rearward from the first position. The engagement part of the actuator 4 with the terminal 3 is so structured, that an engagement portion 14 at the tip part of the engagement piece 12, extending nearly horizontally toward the insertion hole 6 in a cantilever-like form, is inserted into a window hole 15 formed at the base end part of the actuator 4, and a camshaft 16 formed on the edge part of the window hole 15 is disposed on the under side of the engagement portion 14.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a flat flexible cable capable of connecting the flat flexible cable with zero insertion force. SOLUTION: This connector comprises an insulating housing 10 with a cable receiving cavity 13 formed therein, a plurality of terminals 30 and 40 fitted horizontally at a predetermined pitch, and an actuator 50 for opening/closing the cable receiving cavity 13. Contact parts 36 of the terminal 30 and contact parts 45 of the terminal 40 are arranged at different positions in the longitudinal direction in a staggered pattern as a whole. When the actuator 50 is turned to the opening position, a turning support piece 37 of the terminal 30 is passed through a through hole 53 formed in the actuator 50 and extended to the forward side 11, the contact parts 45 are exposed outside, and the contact parts 36 form an insertion space 101 wider than the thickness T of the inserted flat flexible cable 100 above an upper part thereof. When the actuator 50 is closed, the actuator 50 presses the flat flexible cable 100 against the contact parts 36 and 45.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting structure for a flat cable for flexible printed circuit(FPC) and a printed circuit board allowing easy connecting operation and simple structure of an electrical connector. SOLUTION: In the connecting structure, an electrical connector 3 is installed on a printed circuit board 1 in order to connect a circuit in the printed circuit board 1 to a conductor of the FPC 2, a connecting end 7 of the FPC 2 is fitted into the electrical connector 3, and a terminal 18 of the electrical connector 3 and the conductor of the FPC 2 are connected electrically to each other. The connecting end 7 of the FPC 2 is formed on the conductor side by a backing member 11 into a projecting shape, and a projected part 12 is fitted into a fitting part 19 of the electrical connector 3, the conductor of the FPC 2 is pinched between the backing member 11 and the terminal 18 of the electrical connector 3, and abutting pressure required for electrical connection is obtained between the conductor and the terminal 18.
