CONSTITUTION:An image board memory 1 stores a graphic number, contour line information for indicating that a line forming the graphic is present in a picture element and stroke information for indicating a direction subsequently succeeded by the contour line. a contour decision part 3 decides whether the contour line information is present or not in a picture element position read by the control of a scanning control part 2, a stroke direction decision part 4 decides the direction in which said contour line succeeds to the next picture element in the picture element position decided that the contour line information of the graphic is present by the contour decision part 3. An area decision part 5 decides a graphic area direction according to the decision result of the contour decision part 3 and the stroke direction decision part 4. Thereby, it is not required to process a linear equation enclosing the individual graphics but the graphic can be simply generated at high speed.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically generate a pseudo counter, keeping the feature of the substantial form of a graphic, by detecting and eliminating a point forming a recessed part in the graphic. CONSTITUTION:A limiting length L0 is set at a constant length, and the recessed parts in the graphic are A-F (oblique line part), and since each of contours LA-LF is shorter than the L0, a coordinate point forming the recessed part is eliminated. Next, by detecting a part forming the recessed part, the part in the oblique line parts G, and H are recognized, and since contours LG and LH of the parts are also shorter than the L0, the coordinate point forming the recessed part is eliminated. In such a case, since the contour length L1 of a recessed part I is longer than the L0, the coordinate point forming a recessed part I is not eliminated. Thus, the pseudo contour which encloses an original graphic can be obtained. Also, is is possible to generate the pseudo contour, the recessed part of arbitrary size of which is filled, by varying the limiting length L0.
