    • PURPOSE:To to perform accurate measurement and, at the same time, to minimize the power consumption of the module by intermittently driving a signal processing circuit. CONSTITUTION:In an intermittent drive control circuit 23, the (+) and (-) output terminals of a DC power source are connected to the (+) and (-) input terminals of a signal processing circuit 22 through wires 23a and 23b and a timer relay 25 is connected between the wires 23a and 23b. When a voltage is applied across the circuit 23 from an external power source connected to a power supply terminal 13, the relay 25 in the circuit 23 performs opening and closing operations on a contact 25a in a certain cycle. The power supply to the circuit 22 is intermittently performed following the cycle set by means of the circuit 23. Therefore, the circuit 22 drives a composite thin film sensor 21, processes the information detected by the sensor 21, and outputs the processed results through a terminal 14 only when the power supply is made to the circuit 22. Since the sensor 21 is intermittently operated in such a way, the temperature rise of the whole sensor 21 becomes smaller even when the sensor 21 generates heat at the measuring time. Therefore, mutual interference between thin film sensors can be prevented and accurate measurement can be performed. In addition, since the sensor is intermittently operated, the power consumption of this module can be minimized.

    • PURPOSE: To realize an abnormality detector which can detect the amount of abrasion or breakage of pantograph, deformation of the frame, etc., automatically for a train running at low speed. CONSTITUTION: The abnormality detector for pantograph comprises optical sensors 4a, 4b for detecting entrance of a train 7 when a laser light is intercepted, an illuminator 3 for irradiating the pantograph 5 of the train 7 with light from the side face thereof, a plurality of slits 1a, 1b, 1c for projecting a slit laser light toward the pantograph 5, a plurality of video cameras 2a, 2b, 2c for picking up the image of the pantograph 5, an image processor 29 receiving images from the cameras 2a, 2b, 2c, a record display 28 and a controller 30 connected with the image processor 29. This constitution realizes automatic instantaneous detection of the amount of abrasion and breakage of the pantograph 5 and deformation of the frame 15. Since the detector has simple structure including no movable section, the reliability is enhanced and since the data is collected at high rate, measurement can be made even during low speed running of the train 7 and a safety detector can be realized through remote operation.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance a flaw detection property in a specific direction by a method wherein the direction of an eddy current is made variable by an external control operation. CONSTITUTION:Individual coils 11, 12 are wound in such a way that they are set at right angles at definite intervals, i.e., in parts indicated by dotted-line circles 15 at the rear surface of a support body 14. In a flaw detection operation, a driving current is supplied separately to the coils 11, 12, and they are brought close to an object 20 under test. When an eddy-current sensor 10 is brought close to the object 20 under test, an eddy current is generated on the object 20 under test according to the driving current of the coils 11, 12. The eddy current changes its direction according to the phase of a high-frequency current flowing in the individual coils 11, 12, and the direction of a composed eddy current is changed by it. Consequently, when the phase of the eddy current supplied to the individual coils 11, 12 is made variable, the direction of the composed eddy current generated on the object 20 under test can be set arbitrarily, and the inspection property of a flaw in a specific direction generated on the object 20 under test can be enhanced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transportation cask capable of preventing contamination of canister outer surface during installing radioactive materials and a canister, arid simplifying the installation work. SOLUTION: The transportation cask is provided with a nearly cylindrical main body 10, and in the body, a canister 30 containing spent fuel assemblies is contained. The upper end opening of the vessel body 32 of the canister is closed with a primary lid 42 and a secondary lid 44. In between the upper end inner surface of the main body and the upper end outer surface of the vessel body 32, an annular elastic tube 50 is provided to seal them, which prevent fluid from invading in the gap between the canister outer surface and the main body inner surface from the upper opening side of the main body. In between the upper end inner surface of the main body and the upper end outer surface of the vessel body 32, an inspection space 16 is formed to insert an inspection probe for detecting the welding state of the primary lid and the secondary lid.
