    • PURPOSE:To provide a continuous casting apparatus, in which the internal crack in a cast slab continuously cast is reduced and the product having good quality is obtd. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel (liquid phase) 8 is poured into a mold 2 from a nozzle 1 and continuously cast as the cast slab 7. The upper part of the cast slab 7 is supplied with foot rolls 3 and rolling reduction is executed to the lower part with the rolling reduction rolls 4 and the cast slab is carried. One pair of linear type electromagnets composed of six pieces of iron cores 5 and coils 6 are arranged between the foot rolls 3 and the rolling reduction rolls 4. Electricity is conducted in the coils 6, and by penetrating AC magnetic field into the inner part of the cast slab 7 from the tip parts of the iron cores 5, while fluid-stirring the liquid phase 8 near solid-liquid coexisting zone 10 in the cast slab 7, the casting is executed. In this result, the solid-liquid coexisting zone 10 is remelted at some speed or higher and the thickness in the solid-liquid coexisting zone is thinned and the internal crack can be restrained to be short.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the workability of a hollow casting and to reduce the cost thereof by preheating a metallic mold core having the coefft. of thermal expansion larger than the coefft. of thermal expansion of a casting material to a prescribed temp., casting a molten metal into the mold and allowing the mold core to shrink more largely than the casting, then removing the core. CONSTITUTION:The casting mold consisting of master mold 1 and the metallic mold core 2 is provided on a mold stool 4 and the melt of a ductile cast iron is cast from a sprue 3 into the mold. SUS304 having the coefft. of thermal expansion larger than the coefft. of thermal expansion of the molten metal material is used for the core 2 and the core 2 is preheated to the prescribed temp. satisfying the equation T1alpha1>T2alpha2, where alpha1, alpha2 are respectively the coeffts. of thermal expansion of the casting and the metallic mold core, and T1, T2 are respectively the average temps. of the casting and the metallic mold core when the solidification is completed. The mold is cooled down to an ordinary temp. after casting to allow the core 2 to shrink more largely than the casting, then the core is removed. The workability of the hollow casting is thereby improved and the cost is reduced.
