    • PURPOSE: To reduce the space occupied by equipment and costs of it by forming a structure equipped with a particle beam generator and a sheet supplying means. CONSTITUTION: A sheet 7 is supplied to an irradiating zone at a constant speed by rollers 12a, 15a, 15b and 12b. As to the rollers 12a and 12b, one is irradiated with electron beams 6 from the front and the other from the rear. The beams 6 output from an electron beam generator 1 is long and narrow; as thick as or thicker than the interval between the rollers 12a and 12b and as wide as or wider than the width of the sheet 7. Most of the beams 6 penetrate the front and the rear of the sheet 7 and get to a reflector 16. The part of beams which have failed to get to the sheet 7 reach the reflector 16 directly. Then, they are reflected and get to the rear and the front of the sheet 7 again. Moreover, they become damping X rays, which get to the rear and the front of the sheet 7. The reflector 16 is cooled as necessity requires. In this way, a single device 1 can continuously irradiate the front and the rear of the sheet 7 at a time and the irradiating efficiency improves significantly, so that the device can be downsized and the costs of its can be reduced.
