    • PURPOSE:To permit decrease of the amt. of the steam to be directly added to gaseous hydrocarbon for reforming to a greater extent by using steam of a relatively low pressure within the same plant and evaporating the makeup water of low purity by the latent heat of condensation thereof. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous hydrocarbon (a) flowing out of a desulfurizer is first introduced into a packed column 1 and is brought into contact with circulating water in a liquid state, by which the water is evaporated and the gaseous hydrocarbon is humidified. The humidified gaseous hydrocarbon (b) is allowed to flow down in the tubes of a multi-tubular heat exchanger 2 and the circulating water is sprayed from above and is allowed to flow down the inside wall of the tubes so that both are brought into contact. Part (e) of the steam (d) generated from a methanol synthesis reactor 3 is introduced to the outside of the tubes and is condensed on the outside wall of the tubes. On the other hand, the steam (d) formed by the reactor 3 is subjected to removal of the condensed water and thereafter part thereof is introduced to the tube outside of the exchanger 2 so as to be utilized as a heat source; in addition, the other part (g) is allowed to flow down in the tubes of the exchanger 2 and is directly added to the humidified gaseous hydrocarbon (c) to makeup the deficiency of the moisture, by which the gaseous hydrocarbon (j) for reforming is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the wt. of a reactor, by connecting a compressed gaseous mixture header and a reaction finished gas header to the upper and lower ends of a large number of reaction tubes fixed and supported by a support plate and a buffle plate. CONSTITUTION:In a multitube reactor for the synthesis of methanol, the unreacted gas introduced from a gas introducing pipe 11 is guided to each reaction tube 6 from an upper header 14 and contacts the catalyst 7 in said tube 6 to generate reaction and taken out to the outside as reaction finished gas through a lower header 15. Further, each reaction tube 6 is supported by a support plate 4 provided with steam and water moving holes 25 and a lower buffle plate 5. When the synthetic reaction of methanol is performed using a copper-based catalyst and the pressure of pressurized water having saturation temp. contacting the outer surface of each reaction tube 6 is considered to become about 40 atm., the body, lower bottom and upper cover of this reactor are reduced in a thickness to a large extent and, since a tube plate is not provided especially, the wt. and cost of the reactor are reduced in an extremely effective manner.
