    • PURPOSE:To reduce occurrence of waste water and save boiler water, by using the waste water for humidifying a raw material hydrocarbon without neutralizing the waste water with an alkali metal in a distillation step of crude methanol in obtaining the methanol from the hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:Crude methanol 1 from a synthetic step is fed to an intermediate part of the first distillation column 2 and low-boiling organic compounds are discharged from the column top and a flow consisting essentially of methanol and water from the bottom is fed to an intermediate part of the second distillation column 6. Methanol 8 purified to a high purity is recovered from the column top and waste water, consisting essentially of water and containing small amounts of high-boiling organic compounds, organic acids, etc., from the bottom is passed through a flow passage 9 and introduced into a circulation water flow passage 10 of a heat exchange type humidifier 11 to humidify a gaseous hydrocarbon flowing from a flow passage 12 therein. The humidified hydrocarbon is then discharged from a flow passage 15 and a required amount of steam 17 is added. The resultant hydrocarbon is subsequently passed through a preheating part 16 and fed to a reaction tube 20 filled with an Ni-based catalyst. A reformed gas from the reaction tube 20 is then passed through a heat exchanger 22 (for heating boiler water 23) and the heat exchange type humidifier 11 to recover heat. The gas is then fed from a flow passage 14 into the synthetic step.

    • PURPOSE:To increase humidifying efficiency as compared with the conventional humidifier having a wet wall tower only by a method wherein the device is constituted of the combination of a loading tower and the wet wall tower heated by a heating medium from the outside of a tube. CONSTITUTION:The device is constituted of the loading tower 17 and the wet wall tower 19 heated by heating medium 3 from the outside of the tube. Sprayed liquid 5 in the tower 17 flows down along the surface of loaded material 18 under forming liquid film while gas 1 to be humidified, supplied from an inlet port 6, flows under contacting the liquid film directly. The humidify of the gas 1 is not arrived at the saturated humidify at the supplying temperature thereof, therefore, the liquid evaporates into the gas to be humidified from the surface of the liquid film. The gas 1 is brought into a condition near the saturated humidity thereof in the tower 17 and the saturated condition is maintained by heating it in the wet wall tower 19 under heating it by the heating medium 3 through heat transfer tubes 4, thus, the content of vapor of the liquid in the gas to be humidified may be increased. According to this method, the humidifying efficiency may be increased compared as with the conventional humidifier having the wet wall tower only.
