    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge the output difference between the drive modes to change over the drive mode having a higher degree of freedom, by changing over the serial connecting condition and parallel connecting condition of a couple of coils of a motor with a change-over means. SOLUTION: A first commutator 20a has conductive plates 21 to 23a that are mutually insulated with each other, while a second commutator 20b has conductive plates 21 to 23b that are also mutually insulated with each other. The first commutator 20a and second commutator 20b are also insulated mutually with each other. The first and second commutators 20a, 20b are placed in contact with the pressure with commutation brushes 31 to 34. The commutation brushes 31 to 34 are connected with lead wires L1 to L4. When a current is applied to the commutators 20a, 20b connected in series, the Lo drive mode starts. When a current is applied to the commutators 20a, 20b connected in parallel, the Hi drive mode starts. Control is performed with a microcomputer. As a result, various motor control methods can be attained with a higher degree of freedom, not depending on the torque condition.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera in which insufficient contrast hardly occurs even in the combination with a somewhat special photographing lens by detecting a distance to a subject by another system before detecting a focus state by a phase difference detecting system and setting a focusing lens to the vicinity of a focusing position. SOLUTION: A focusing lens is set to the vicinity of a focusing position by detecting the distance to the subject by another system before detecting the focus state by a phase difference detecting system. Namely, at a 1st stage, a driving control means 17 calculates the position X of the focusing lens 7 corresponding to the distance detected by a range-finding means 12 and moves the lens 7 to the position X. Thus, a photographing lens 6 is in a nearly focused state. At a 2nd stage, the amount and the direction of which the lens 7 should be moved are calculated from an output of a focus state detection means 11 to move the lens 7, then processing to newly calculate the amount etc., of which the lens 7 should be moved from the output of the means 11 is repeated.
