    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an automatic transmission of advance 6 speeds, by using only a single pinion type planetary gear set.
      SOLUTION: This automatic transmission has first-third gear sets 10, 20 and 30 composed of the single pinion type planetary gear set, and has first and second clutches 40 and 50 for respectively connecting a first sun gear 11 and a second sun gear 21, a first ring gear 14 and a second carrier 23, a second ring gear 24 and a third carrier 33, a third sun gear 31 and an input shaft 4, and a first carrier 13 and an output gear 7, and respectively connecting and disconnecting the input shaft 4, the first sun gear 11 and the second sun gear 21, and the input shaft 4, the first ring gear 14 and the second carrier 23, and first-third brakes 60, 70 and 80 respectively connecting and disconnecting a case 6, the first ring gear 14 and the second carrier 23, the case 6, the second ring gear 24 and the third carrier 33, and the case 6 and the third ring gear 34. The advance 6 speeds and a retreat speed are realized by selective fastening of these clutches and brakes.

    • PURPOSE:To always damp vibration properly even when the vibratory frequency is varying by calculating the frequency of the vibration generated when a belt is engaged by pulleys, and controlling the characteristics of a damper in accordance with the result from calculating. CONSTITUTION:A casing 38 of a continuous transmission concerned is mounted on the body frame of a car with the aid of a mount member 39, which is fitted with a damper 40 to damp the vibration generated when a belt is engaged by pulleys. The transmission is equipped with a means 45 to sense the revolving speed of a primary pulley corresponding to the engine and a means 46 to sense the revolving speed of a secondary pulley corresponding to the car speed. Further a means 48 to calculate the vibratory frequency on the basis of the two sensing signals is furnished in a controller 47. In accordance with the obtained frequency, a takeup device 44 is controlled by a control means 49, and thereby the installing position of a mass member 41 in the damper 40 is adjusted through a cable 43.

A ring gear 14 of the gear set 10, a ring gear 24 of the gear set 20, and a ring gear 34 of the gear set 30 are connected to a carrier 23 of the gear set 20, a carrier 33 of the gear set 30, and a carrier 13 of the gear set 10, respectively; the ring gear 34 of the gear set 30 and the carrier 13 of the gear set 10 are connected to the output member 7; a sun gear 31 of the gear set 30 is fixed; and rotation of the input shaft 4 is input from the carrier 33, whereby a sixth gear increasing the speed of rotation to output it to the output member 7 from the ring gear 34 is formed. A pinion 32 of the gear set 30 has a large-diameter part 32a gearing with the sun gear 31 and a small-diameter part 32b gearing with the ring gear 34.
