    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit formation of NOx during acceleration by surely executing exhaust gas recirculation via an exhaust gas recirculation valve 51 at an appropriate timing while preventing drop of acceleration response when a vehicle state is changed from a deceleration state to an acceleration state in a supercharger for an engine provided with a two exhaust turbochargers 61, 62 mutually connected in series, an exhaust gas recirculation passage 50 connecting an intake air passage 30 and an exhaust gas passage 40 for recirculating exhaust gas to the intake air passage 30, and an exhaust gas recirculation valve 51 provided in the exhaust gas recirculation passage 50. SOLUTION: This supercharger is provided with an intake air bypass passage 64 bypassing the first exhaust turbocharger 61 and an intake air bypass valve 65 provided in the intake air bypass passage 64. When the vehicle gets in the deceleration state, opening of the exhaust gas recirculation valve 51 is set to an opening not less than its set opening other than a fully closed state, and an opening of intake bypass valve 51 is set greater than the set opening.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enrich an air-fuel ratio at the time of reducing NOx occluded in a NOx catalyst in a supercharger of an engine 1 having an exhaust gas turbo-charger 61 and a NOx catalyst (lean NOx catalyst section 43c) for reducing by occluding NOx therein; and to improve acceleration response at the time of reduction of the NOx or acceleration demand just after completing the reduction. SOLUTION: The NOx occluded in the NOx catalyst is reduced by enriching the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas so that an opening degree of a suction bypass valve 65 arranged on a suction bypass passage 64 for bypassing a compressor 61a of an exhaust gas turbocharger 61 is set up to be larger than an opening degree of a suction bypass valve arranged in response to operating conditions of the engine 1 and an opening degree of a regulator valve 68 arranged on a first exhaust gas bypass passage 67 for bypassing a turbine 61b of the exhaust gas turbo-charger 61 is set up to be equal or below in comparison with the opening degree of the regulator valve arranged in response to operating conditions of the engine 1.
