      SOLUTION: A connecting terminal 5 is equipped with a lead part 11 inserted into the through hole in a state having a gap to the inner wall of the through hole 12 and soldered to a substrate 4, a bent part 14 continuing to the lead part 11 in a state bent toward the lead part 11, a contacting part 15 connected to the bent part 14, and an outer connecting part 16 connected to the contacting part 15. The bent part 14 is arranged so that the gap width S to the surface of the substrate 14 is a prescribed value or less.

    • PURPOSE: To instantaneously attain a start or a re-start mode, and prevent the occurrence of flicker or extinguishment at the time of lighting by feeding energy from a charging and discharging capacitor via a switching means at the start of operation, and causing the switching means to hold a non-conductive condition after the start of operation. CONSTITUTION: When a power switch 1 is turned on, a switch control signal is sent from a lighting control circuit 8 to a transistor(Tr) 5, thereby causing the Tr5 to repeat an on-off operation. As a result, stepped-up AC voltage is induced in the secondary winding of a flyback transformer 4, and this voltage is rectified and smoothed with a diode 6 and a capacitor 7. Thus, DC voltage is outputted between terminals (a) and (b). In this state, when a switching means 15 is turned to a conductive mode, charge current flows to a charging and discharging capacitor 14, and charging voltage reaches the preset no-load voltage. Then, high pulse voltage is fed from a starter circuit 10, and the accumulated charge of the capacitor 14 is released through a high-pressure discharge lamp 9 and this lamp 9 instantaneously starts.
