    • PURPOSE:To make possible the control of operating conditions based on the actually measured surface temp. of a billet by attaching and pressing a riveting gun to the continuously casting billet in a high-temp. region by an automatic remoto operation, attaching a thermocouple by one action to the billet and retreating the gun. CONSTITUTION:A gun frame 13 which moves at a short stroke is connected to a moving frame 12 which moves at a long stroke toward a billet 3 with respect to a supporting frame 11 in order to rivet and attach the measuring contact of the thermocouple for measuring the surface temp. to the billet in the process of continuous casting. The riveting gun 14 which presses a gun barrel 31 to the billet 3 and shoots the rivet is attached to the frame 13 and the barrel 31 is brought near the billet 3 through the apeture 9 of a bunker 8 by the automatic remoto operation and is further pressed thereto so that the thermocouple is riveted to the billet 3. The thermocoupls if thus safely and surely attached to the billet and the adequate control of the operating conditions based on the actually measured surface temp. of the billet is made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To subject the narrow face of a slab which is different in size to uniform secondary cooling by mounting many water and air spray nozzles to preventive plates for rupture fixed to walking bar and spraying the water and air at a specified rate of cooling water and a regulated rate of air. The flow rate for the cooling water is maintained constant according to the kind of the steel, the drawing speed of the billet, etc., and the flow rate of the air is changed according to the width on the narrow face of the billet and the distance between the nozzle and the billet when the size of the billet is changed, whereby the narrow face of the billet is uniformly cooled.

    • PURPOSE:To produce economically and stably a slab having good quality by providing an electromagnetic coil only on the one broad side of a casting slab under casting and providing a molten steel pouring ports of an immersion nozzle on the side opposite from the electromagnetic coil. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is poured through an immersion nozzle 5 into casting molds 1a, 1b and a slab 4 is cast continuously.
