    • PURPOSE:To manufacture safe and cheap artificial kidney free of pollution by the procedure in which a membrane part is superposed upon the both surfaces of membrane supporter provided with grooves for the first and second fluids and fluid header, and in the neighborhood of opening connected to the entrance for the second fluid of the membrane supporter, an unit dialyzing part obtained by joining membrane parts liquid-tightly is laminated. CONSTITUTION:The thermal plastic resin sheet 21 of a thickness of 100 to 500 micron is heated and then molded by the hot press roller 23 having a fixed molding shape so as to form the projection of dialyzing portion and groove of manifold, with the exception of opening leading to the fluid entrance, and then cooled. Then, the surface of adhered portion of membrane supporter is treated with the corona discharger 25. On the other hand, the continuous sheet-like dialyzing membrane 26 superposed over the both surfaces of membrane supporter is coated with an adhesive 28 by the roller 27, and after drying is inserted into between the hot rollers while being superposed over a molding part integrally. Then, opening leading to the fluid entrance is bored by the borer 31, and then cut into a fixed length by the cutter 32 to form the unit dialyzing part 33 which is in turn laminated into the part 34. Then, the part 34 is housed in a case to obtain module.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent channeling and to decrease a pressure drop by segmenting the inside of a housing to a blood inlet or outlet chamber and a gas exchange chamber by a partition wall and forming blood flow passages regulated by warp and hollow yarn between the hollow yarn sheets crimped by two sheets of perforated plates in the exchange chamber. CONSTITUTION:The inside of the square cylindrical housing 1 is segmented to the blood inlet chamber A and the gas exchange chamber B by the partition wall 2. The laminate of the hollow yarn sheets formed like a screen is housed between two sheets of the perforated plates 3 and 3' of the gas exchange chamber B. Both ends of the plates 3, 3' and the hollow yarn 4 are liquidtightly supported by the upper and lower resin partition walls 5, 5' closing both ends of the housing 1. A blood inlet 10 communicating with the blood inlet chamber A and a blood outlet 11 communicating with the gas exchange chamber B are provided to the side wall 5. The blood chamber A and the exchange chamber B are communicated by an aperture 6 in the lower part of the partition wall 2. The top and bottom ends of the housing 1 respectively have a gas inlet 12 and gas outlet 3 communicating with the inside space of the hollow yarn 4. The channeling is prevented in this way and the gas exchange capacity per unit area is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent channeling and to reduce pressure loss by winding a hollow fiber sheet formed into a reed screen shape around porous inner cylinder and receiving the same in a porous outer cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The blood introduced into a porous inner cylinder 3 from a blood inlet 11 flows in a gas exchange chamber from the openings bored in the porous inner cylinder 3 to flow in the outer peripheral direction thereof and flows out from the blood outlet 12 provided to the upper side wall of a cylindrical housing 1. The gas introduced into hollow fibers from a gas inlet 10 flows toward the lower part of the cylindrical housing 1. In this external perfusion type artificial lung, a reed screen like hollow fiber sheet is wound around the porous inner cylinder 3 and received in an outer cylinder 4. In this case, one hollow fiber sheet formed into a reed screen shape from hollow yarns arranged in parallel or bundles 41 each composed of a plurality of hollow fibers by longitudinal yarns 40 may be continuously wound around the porous inner cylinder 3 or two reed screen like hollow fiber sheets may be wound around the porous inner cylinder 3 in such a state that the hollow fibers of the upper and lower sheets are superposed so as to have an angle alternately.
