    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator which stably operates even in the air, is inexpensive and large in an amount of displacement and generated stress. SOLUTION: The actuator is composed of a polymer solid electrolyte having an ion liquid and a polymer component as constituents, and one electrode and the other electrode which are located with the polymer solid electrode in between, do not contact with each other, have activated carbon as active materials, and can generate deformation by imparting a potential difference between the electrodes. The actuator is constituted in such a manner that, when the actuator is brought into a cantilevered state by being fixed at its portion of less than 70% of the actuator with respect to its longitudinal direction, and when the constant potential difference (A) is imparted between the electrodes at the fixed position, a ratio B/A of a potential difference (B) between the electrodes of the actuator at a portion of not less than 30% where the deformation may be generated is not smaller than 0.3. The electrodes are for use in the portion of not less than 30%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent which is used for removing a very small amount of carbon monoxide in a gas or a liquid, has large removal capacity, is hardly affected by other adsorbing materials and is stable and from which a metal is hardly eluted into the liquid even when this absorbent is used in the liquid and which is, if necessary, manufactured from an easily-accessible raw material and contains no halogen.
SOLUTION: This carbon monoxide absorbing solid is composed of a copper compound and an ion exchange resin and is manufactured by adding the ion exchange resin in a solution of copper salt and removing the used solvent. Copper (II) salt is used as the copper salt. The copper salt containing no halogen can also be used. It is particularly suitable that a chelate resin is used as the ion exchange resin.
