    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a sturdy structure by arranging a hermetically sealed hollow structure in a cave formed in the underground and filling cement paste in gaps and pressurizing it. SOLUTION: A cave 14 larger than a structure 10 is excavated in a natural ground 12 such as bedlock, and a shaft is arranged to communicate with the top of the cave 14 and a plurality of rock bolts are installed in the cave 14. Subsequently, concrete is shot on the wall face of the cave 14 to reinforce loose zones 28 of the ground 12 caused during excavation. Thereafter, a plurality of holes are bored to reach the loose zones 28. Then, a form is installed in the cave 14 and concrete is placed to construct the structure 10. Thereafter, cement paste 40 is charged from the shaft into a space 38 between the structure 10 and the wall face of the cave 14 and the holes 30, and also into the shaft, to pressurize the paste 40 in the space 38 and the holes 30 by the weight and compress the wall face of the cave 14 and the structure 10. In this way, the loose zones can be reinforced and a prestress force is introduced in the structure to enhance the mechanical strength.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the term of works required for compacting a ground by introducing groundwater, pressure of which is increased by giving impulse force from a ground surface, onto the ground through a drain column. SOLUTION: Groundwater, pressure of which is increased by giving an impulse by dropping a weight 22 such as a steel ball onto a ground to be improved 10 from the surface 12 of the ground, is introduced onto the ground through drain columns 13 installed into the ground 10, and guided onto the ground surface or the like in the periphery as the outside of the ground surface 12 through a pipe 31. The drain columns 14 can be mounted in either of before the giving of impulse force, during it or after it. Accordingly, the installation and removal of a vibrator in the ground as seen in a conventional method are made unnecessary, and the term of works required for soil improvement by the compaction of the ground can be shortened largely because the ground surface 12 is not immersed by groundwater introduced onto the ground and the period of the mounting of the drain columns 14 can also be selected in response to the properties of the ground to be improved.
