    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure both sealing ability of the periphery of a cylinder bore and sealing ability of a head bolt hole even when the head bolt hole is formed in the vicinity of the cylinder bore. SOLUTION: This cylinder head gasket is applicable for an engine having a head bolt hole 4 in the vicinity of a cylinder bore 2. First and second layers 8 and 9 formed of a metallic material are formed and curves parts 13 are formed in a manner to be curved in a protrusion shape toward the respective inner sides of the first and second layers 8 and 9. A pair of the curved parts 13 are positioned facing each other to form a high surface pressure part 10. The high surface pressure part 10 is formed in a belt-like state at the periphery of the cylinder bore 2. By fastening of a cylinder bolt, a pair of the curved parts 13 are deformed into a flat state and this way increases the surface pressure of the high surface pressure part 10.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the machining cost of an oil return passage faced to an oil ring groove by reducing the compression height of a piston. SOLUTION: The lower surface 12 of the oil ring groove 4 of a piston 1 is arranged lower than the upper surface 14 of a piston pin hole 7, and at least a part of the oil ring groove 4 is communicated with the piston pin hole 7 so that a communicating part 15 is formed as an oil return passage 8. The oil ring groove 4 is overlapped in the piston pin hole 7 so as to reduce the compression height of the piston 1. Hereby, there is of advantage to the miniaturization and weight reduction of the whole piston, reduction of a slap sound, suppression of the whole height of an engine, improvement of an exhaust amount, and so on. At least a part of the oil ring groove 4 is communicated with the piston pin hole 7 so as to form the oil return passage 8 so that there is no requirement for drilling the oil return passage.
