    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce labor and to improve the efficiency of a cutting operation by making even a weak operator able to easily cut the roots of mat-like seedlings entered on the lower side of the seedling mounting surface of a seedling raising box. SOLUTION: A supporting part 2 for supporting the seedling raising box B in a fixed attitude is provided and a flexible seedling scooping plate 4 is wound around a rotating body 3 arranged on one end side of the supporting part 2. Then, a guide member 5 is provided around the rotating body 3, the tip side of the seedling scooping plate 4 is made to face one end side of the mat-like seedlings in an attitude along the bottom surface of the mat-like seedlings W inside the seedling raising box B supported in the fixed attitude and an actuator 7 for rotationally driving the rotating body 3 is provided. By the rotational driving of the rotating body 3, while carrying the seedling scooping plate 4 to the side of the seedling raising box B, it is pushed from an opening part S formed on one end side of the seedling raising box B between the bottom surface of the mat-like seedlings W and the seedling mounting surface 17 of the seedling raising box B and the roots of the mat-like seedlings W on a lower side are driven and cut from the seedling mounting surface 17.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of cutting operations so as to enable the simple practice of the root cutting of a matlike seedling entering into the lower side of a seedling-carrying surface of a nursery box by anyone. SOLUTION: This apparatus for cutting a root of a seedling cultivated in a box B comprises a supporting part 2 for supporting the nursery box B in a constant posture, a seedling scooping plate 3 for making the tip thereof face to one end side of a matlike seedling in a posture directing along the base of the matlike seedling in the nursery box B supported by the supporting part 2, a moving mechanism 4 capable of relatively freely moving the nursery box B and the scooping plate 3 and an actuator 5 for driving the moving mechanism 4. All the supporting part 2, the seedling scooping plate 3, the moving mechanism 4 and the actuator 5 are supported by a frame 1. An opening 12 for inserting the seedling scooping plate 3 is formed at the end on the side of the scooping plate 3 of the nursery box B. In the state of the formed opening 12, the seedling scooping plate 3 is pushed from the opening 12 into a space between the base of the matlike seedling and the seedling-carrying surface 15 of the nursery box B by driving the actuator 5 and driven therewith to cut the root of the matlike seedling on the lower side of the seedling-carrying surface 15.
