    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject readily releasable water-soluble adhesive capable of freely selecting the particle diameter and having a high adhesive strength and a high water dissolution rate by adsorbing a starch plasticizer on a pregelatinized starch. SOLUTION: This adhesive is obtained by adsorbing (B) a starch plasticizer on (A) a pregelatinized starch. The aqueous solution of the component A preferably has 20-10,000 cP viscosity at 40% and 30 deg.C. The component B is preferably selected from urea, polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and glycerol. The amount of the component B used is preferably 10-100 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A. The adhesive can be used for an adhesive for bookbinding, an adhesive for can manufacturing, an adhesive for packaging paper, or the like. A waste paper using the adhesive can be recycled without causing problems even by carrying out a recycling treatment according to a conventional method.

    • PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously produce the title compound useful as a sweetener, food raw material, etc., by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Hansenula in a culture medium containing a pentasaccharide as a main carbon source and reacting the resultant live microbial cells, etc., with a starch hydrolyzate in the presence of reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). CONSTITUTION:Starch (e.g., purified sweet potato starch) is converted into a 30% emulsion and a liquefying enzyme in an amount of 0.15% based on the starch is then added and reacted at 90 deg.C temperature and pH6.0 for 30min. The liquefying enzyme in an equal amount is then added to carry out hydrolysis at 70 deg.C temperature for 2hr and afford a starch hydrolyzate. A microorganism (e.g., Hansenula.anomala IAM12210) of the genus Hansenula is cultivated in a culture medium containing a pentasaccharide as a main carbon source to prepare one or more of live microbial cells, treated or crushed microbial cells and microbial extract, etc., which are subsequently reacted with the starch hydrolyzate in the coexistence of reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate to afford the aimed starch sugaralcohol.
