摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the energy conversion efficiency of a fiber laser. SOLUTION: To both ends of a light amplification fiber 10 composed of a fluoride fiber to which Pr ions and Yb ions are added, optical fiber gratings 12a and 12b for selectively reflecting 1.02 μm band and the optical fiber gratings 14a and 14b for selectively reflecting 1.3 μm band are respectively connected. A pigtail fiber 16 for excitation light input is connected to the opposite end of the optical fiber grating 14a, and the output laser beam of an excitation light source 18 laser oscillated in 0.98 μm band is converged by a convergence lens 20 and made incident on the pigtail fiber 16. On the other hand, to the opposite end of the optical fiber grating 14b, an output optical fiber 22 for taking out laser oscillation light is connected.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 1.3 μm band light amplifier of a low cost, high gain and high efficiency. SOLUTION: To a light amplification fiber 10, Yb ions for being excited in 0.98 μm band and emitting light in 1.02 μm band, and Pr ions for being excited in 1.02 μm band and light-amplifying the signal light of 1.3 μm band, are added. Both ends of the light amplification fiber 10 are respectively connected to optical fiber gratings 20 and 22 for selectively reflecting the 1.02 μm band through matching connection members 12 and 14, and tapered core optical fibers 16 and 18 and the optical fiber gratings 20 and 22 form the resonator of the 1.02 μm band. A wavelength division multiplex(WDM) photocoupler 24 multiplexes excitation light from an excitation laser 26 to signal light to be light amplified and supplies it to the optical fiber grating 20. The excitation laser 26 is composed of a laser device for performing laser oscillation at 0.98 μm.

CONSTITUTION:A part of the output of a variable wavelength semiconductor laser 1 is branched into two parts, one of which is made incident on the first optical bandpass filter having the wavelength longer than the desired oscillation wavelength used as the center wavelength, and the other one is made incident on the second bandpass filter having the short wavelength as the center wavelength. The output light sent from a filter is detected by light-receiving elements 17 and 18, and the oscillation wavelength of the variable wavelength semiconductor laser 1 is controlled by the differential signal of output. The oscillation wavelength can be stabilized for the temperature change of outside part 6 using the same way coupling filter as an optical bandpass filter. Also, the optical bandpass filter part is formed using the same material, and the variable wavelength semiconductor laser 1, light-receiving elements 17, 18 and the like can be integrated on the same substrate.

Then the base material is dried in air, heated at 100-300 deg.C in an ammonia gas atmosphere so that ammonia gas is absorbed to neutralize the salt into hydroxide, and immersed in a solution containing phosphoric acid to change the rare earth elements into phosphate. Further the mother material is sintered at 1200-1800 deg.C in a He gas atmosphere to form transparent glass.
