    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a porous metallic body having high porosity by feeding molten metal forcibly into voids of sintered body of inorganic compound granules which are dissolved with a suitable solvent, coagulating it and thereafter dissolving the inorganic compound in the solvent to remove the compound. CONSTITUTION:The surface of powder such as NaCl, KCl, NaNO2, BaCl2, etc. having 10-150mu grain size is wetted with a saturated soln. of these inorganic salts whose solvent is e.g. water, alkali, acid, alcohol and acetone, etc. After the powder is pressed and molded to a prescribed form with a pressing method or the like, it is heated and dried to make a porous molded body of said inorganic compound soluble in the solvents. The porous molded body 3 is set in a mold 1 and the melt of metal such as cast iron, Pb, Zn, Sn, Al, Au, Ag, Cu or the alloy thereof is poured therein and the melt is pressurized from the upper part with a punch 4 to impregnate the melt in the many pores of said porous molded body 3 and to coagulate the melt. Then, the inorganic compound is dissolved with the above-mentioned solvent and removed to manufacture the porous metallic body having high porosity.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a porous metallic body having reduced pore sizes by packing powder of an easily water-soluble salt having a specific grain size into a dies, sintering the powder, forcing a molten metal into the sintered body, washing away the easy water soluble salt and compressing the resultant porous metallic body. CONSTITUTION:Powder of an easily water-soluble salt such as sodium chloride or the like having 10-150mu grain size is packed into dies at the packing ranging about 50-70. The dies are heated to sinter the easily water-soluble salt powder and to bring the respective powder particles into face-to-face contact thus providing about 15-50% porosity. Such sintered body of the easily water-soluble salt is preheated and a metal having the m.p. lower than the easily water-soluble salt (Sn, Zn, etc.) is forced in a molten state under about >=30kg/cm into the sintered body. The easily water-soluble salt is washed away with water upon cooling and solidifying of the molten metal to obtain a porous metallic body. The porous metallic body is dried and is then uniformly compressed under 100- 500kg/cm pressure by a mechanical or hydrostatic means. The porous metallic body useful for production of a printing body, etc. is thus obtd.
