    • PURPOSE:To easily, quickly and surely remove a porous plug of a molten steel pan by engaging an engaging part of a jig with an engaging projection formed to the peripheral face of a pipe for connecting the gas pipe of the porous plug and pulling the same by a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The porous plug 3 having a circular truncated cone shape to be fitted into a tapered fitting hole 2 is provided to the bottom of the molten steel pan 1. The molten steel pan 1 is put into a horizontally facing state in the stage of exchanging the porous plug 3. The engaging part 15 at the top end of a connecting frame 17 of the jig 11 is then engaged with the engaging projection 8 formed on the peripheral face at the top end of the pipe 7 for connecting the gas pipe of the porous plug 3. A part 16 to be clamped at one end of the jig 11 is gripped by a clamp 14 provided at the top end of a cylinder rod 13 of a cylinder 10. The cylinder 10 is the operated to retreat the rod 13, by which the porous plug 3 is removed from the fitting hole 2.

    • PURPOSE:To open and close surely a slide valve by loading a cylinder for preventing outflow of a packing material onto the nozzle rest brick in the bottom, inserting a pipe into the inside region thereof and packing the packing material into the valve. CONSTITUTION:The residual metal in the through-port 7 of an insert nozzle 8 and on a nozzle rest brick 6 is removed. A packing meterial 13-1 is packed into the port 7 of the insert nozzle and thereafter a steel cylinder 15 for preventing outflow of the packing material is fitted into a packing pipe and is fitted onto the brick 6. The cylinder 15 is supported by a refractory lining 5 on the outside circumference of the brick 6. The material 13-1 having good fluidity is then packed through the packing pipe onto the brick 6 and is packed up to the middle height of the cylinder. A packing material 13-2 consisting of drying converter dust is further charged therein to enclose the entire surface of the packing material in the lower layer. The surface layer part of the ladle packed with the packing material by the abovementioned method is formed to have a thin sintered layer without wash-away of the packing material 13 in the cylinder 15 in the stage of receiving a molten metal.

    • PURPOSE:To perform surely firing and hole opening of a packing material which is thermally affected in the stage of starting charging a molten steel by using converter dust which is preliminarily made dry as the packing material to close the nozzle hole of a sliding valve in the bottom of a ladle prior to receiving the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:An insert nozzle 5 having a through-hole in a nozzle receiving brick 3 in succession to a lining brick 2 on the inside of a shell 1 is under-supported by a bottom plate brick 6 and is thus attached in the bottom of a ladle. A slide plate brick 8 is slid together with a change nozzle 9 with respect to the brick 8 by a hydraulic cylinder 7 to open a through-hole 4. The slide valve is closed and the converter dust which is preliminarily made dry is packed as a packing material 10 in the nozzle 5 to close the nozzle 4 in order to smooth the hole opening in the stage of starting changing the molten steel into the ladle. As a result, the firing and hole opening of the packing material which is thermally affected in the stage of starting charging the molten steel are surely accomplished and the possibility of introducing harmful components and inclusions into the steel ingot is eliminared. The workability in the stage of packing the packing material in the nozzle hole is further improved.
