    • PURPOSE:To facilitate automatic discharge plugging with a generally used simple discharging device by shrink-wrapping the surface of mud formed into a rectangular parallelopiped shape or cubic shape with a polymer film. CONSTITUTION:A molten iron tapping hole F1 in a blast furnace F is plugged with a mud M. The mud body 1 is obtained by by mixing alumina, SiC, clay and coke as blending refractory raw material and adding organic binding agent of tar, etc., to the raw material and making them combined and caked. Further, this surface is wrapped with a polyethylene of 0.03mm thick and covered tightly with its shrink-film 2. Therefore, the tackiness of the surface is low, and even when they are stacked, they do not simply stick to each other and the discharge with a mud gun G can smoothly executed. Further, by this shrink-wrapping film 2, bad smell of the organic binding agent is not emitted to the outside. Further, the film 2 is easily decomposed and carbonized by heat of the blast furnace, and as the absolute quantity is little, no effect on the function as the plugging refractory of the molten iron tapping hole is caused.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent cracking, becoming brittle and collapse of silica blocks in a hot blast stove by controlling temperature drop rate of the hot blast stove making use of heat retained in the regenerator when operation of the hot blast stove for a blast furnace is in suspension. CONSTITUTION:In suspension of attached hot blast stove on the occasion of blowing-out of a blast furnace cracking occurs in those parts K made of silica blocks due to contraction in a temperature range of 600-100 deg.C and expansion at the time of reheating and the material becomes brittle and in some cases results in collapse. To prevent this, a proper amount of outside air is sent intermittently from the lower part of a regenerator 2 to a mixing chamber 1 and a diffusion tube 14 successively through a combustion chamber 1. The pressure in the hot blast stove is maintained at >=50mm. Hg by adjusting aperture of the diffusion tube 14. Heat retained in the regenerator 2 pervades uniformly over the whole hot blast stove, and the cooling rate in a temperature range of 600- 100 deg.C is made to slow cooling of >=1 deg.C/hr. Thus, damage of silica blocks due to abnormal contraction can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of apparatus parts such as upper bells in accordance with the discharging of raw materials by adding tertiary equalizing pressure in the pressure equalizing in the top part of a two bell type furnace. CONSTITUTION:Part of the gas half cleaned from the gas in a furnace 7 is conducted through a pressure equalizing pipe 11 into an upper bell hopper (pressure equalizing chamber) 3, whereby a primary pressure equalizing is accomplished. The gas in the furnace 7 then is conducted through a pressure equalizing pipe 12 into the chamber 3, whereby a secondary pressure equalizing is accomplished. A lower bell hopper 5 and the inside of the furnace 7 are communicated with a pressure equalizing pipe. A secondary pressure equalizing valve 17 is then closed, and a tertiary pressure equalizing valve 21 and a pressure regulating valve 22 are opened to be ready for introduction of gaseous nitrogen or the like through a tertiary pressure equalizing pipe 20 into the chamber 3. Thereafter, an upper bell 4 is opened to charge raw materials A immediately or after a constant time, and gaseous nitrogen or the like is introduced so as to maintain the presure in the chamber 3 (equal to the furnace top pressure) in accordance with the discharging from the chamber 3 in the raw materials A. Then, the abrupt ascending of the rough gas along the slope 4' of the upper bell 4 is obviated and the abrasion of apparatus, devices, etc. is prevented.
