    • PURPOSE:To reliably determine the degree of configuration defect, by a method wherein configuration is evaluated by employing a detected stress signal as it is or an absolute stress obtained by correcting the detected stress signal by an overall tension according to whether the variation of a gap signal is below or above a given value. CONSTITUTION:An excitation coil 14 and detection coils 20, 22 are disposed along the moving direction of a belt-shaped magnetic substance 18 moving at high speed in order to measure the stress applied to the belt-shaped magnetic substance 18 by utilizing magnetostriction effect. In addition, the stress distribution in the width direction of the belt-shaped magnetic substance 18 is made known by detecting the gap between the detector and the belt-shaped magnetic substance 18, and the configuration of the belt- shaped magnetic substance 18 is evaluated from the stress distribution. When the variation of the gap signal is below a given value, i.e., in a state where configuration is latent, the configuration is latent, the configuration is evaluated by employing the detected stress signal as it is. On the other hand, when the vairation of the gap signal is above the given value, i.e., in a state where the configuration is actualized, the configuration is evaluated by employing an absolute stress obtained by correcting the detected stress signal by an overall tension.

    • PURPOSE:To compensate a detection error for making precise detection by a precess wherein from the maximum value of the output signals of a shape detection cell set up in the direction of the width of rolled material each output signal is subtracted to detect the shape in the direction of the width using the value gained by the division of said value by the minimum value. CONSTITUTION:The lengthwise voltage signals VR1-VR3 and the transverse voltage signals Vr1-Vr3 of the rolled material gained by the each shape detection cells 21-23 are subtracted by the subtractors to gain the signal corresponding to the tention value sigmai. The maximum signal gained by the selector 34 is given to the subtractor, each tention signal is subtracted and the signal corresponding to the tention fluctuation quantity DELTAsigmai are given to the dividors 38-40. On the other hand the minimum value signal of the minimum value selector 41 is put into the dividers 38-40 to divide DELTAsigmai by said minimum value and the output thereof is given to the shape arithmetic unit 42 to detect the traverse shape of the rolled material. Accordingly the detection error is compensated to make it possible to perform detection with high precision.

    • PURPOSE:To detect tension and shape simultaneously with a simple constitution by a method wherein the plural number of shape detector heads are arranged in the direction of the width of a plate in order to obtain unit tension at each point, and the data obtained are processed by arithmetic operation. CONSTITUTION:A tension signal and a plate width signal are input to an impedance selector 10 from each head, then an instruction is given to a function generator 20 so that it is to select the corresponding impedance, and a select completion signal Q is sent to a sampling dispatcher 70. If the dispatcher send a generation command to a lump generator and at the same time an integration commencement command P to a integrator 40, the functin generator 20, after receiving the output from the generator 30, send the corresponding output to the integrator 40 along the direction of an approximate function in terms of the width. Since time for integration corresponds to the plate width direction, a sample holding circuit 50 holds the sample according to a sampling command S simultaneously with the completion of integration time. A multiplier 60 outputs the total tension by multiplying the thickness of the plate. Therefore, tension and the shape are detected at the same time.

    • PURPOSE:To permit a proper detection of stress independently of the change in moving speed, by disposing a detection coil so as to be offset with respect to the moving locus of a strip magnetic substance passing right above an excitation coil. CONSTITUTION:By inclining an iron core 40 of an L-shaped detector at a given angle theta1 (e.g., 15-30 deg.) with respect to the rolling direction (moving direction) of a rolled steel plate, a rolling direction detecting coil 46 is disposed so as to be offset more than 1/2 of the magnetic pole width(b) of the iron core 40 along the width direction of the rolled steel plate with respect to the moving locus B of the rolled steel plate passing right above the center of an excitation coil 44, and also an iron core 42 disposed along the width direction of the plate is inclined at a given angle theta2 with respect to the plate width direction. Thereby, the residual magnetism of the rolled steel plate excited by the excitation coil 44 never passes right above the detecting coil 46 and consequently the voltage induced in the detecting coil 46 is hardly affected by the rolling speed. Accordingly, it becomes possible to perform a proper detection of stress.

    • PURPOSE:To permit a distortion detection with high accuracy by providing at least one unit for detecting the stress in the width and rolling directions midway in the width direction, and arranging a plurality of units for detecting the stress in the rolling diretion in parallel in the width direction. CONSTITUTION:A detecting unit 20 for the width and rolling directions comprising an exciting coil 1, U-shaped cores 7 and 8 and detecting coils 2 and 3 is arranged in the center, and on both sides thereof, a plurality of detecting units 30a... for the rolling direction are provided each comprising an exciting coil 15, a U-shaped core 14 and a detecting coil 16. When a steel plate passes with a gap between the end of each core, the voltages of the detecting coils 2, 3, 16, 18... vary according to the wavy distortion resulting from the unvenness of the internal stress. Said output voltages are rectified by means of rectifiers 21a, 21b, 31a.... The differences E20, E30a, E30b... between them and the DC voltage of the detecting coil 3 are the stress detecting voltages of the respective detecting units. The output voltage in the normal condition is previously balanced by means of the variable resistor of each rectifier circuit. Thereby, a distortion detection of high accuracy is made possible.
