    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming coating films in which in a process of piling up coating films in a wet-on-wet manner, water paint is used as a part of used paint to contrive saving resources and pollution control, and the coating films are subjected to crosslinking cure three-dimensionlly at the same time at room temperature or by heating to lower temperature (about 120 deg.C or less), and they excel in water resistance, interlayer adhesiveness and coagulation and destruction resistance without lowering smoothness, image clarity, weather resistance and the like. SOLUTION: Watre base paint consisting essentially of hydroxide group containing resin, coloring pigment and/or metallic pigment and a catalyst is applied to a film thickness of 10-25μ based on a dry coating film. Next, on the coated surface, paint consisting essentially of hydroxide group containing resin and polyisocyanate compounds having two or more free isocyanate groups in a molecule is applied to a film thickness of 25-50μ based on a dry coating film, and both the coating films are subjected to crosslinking cure three- dimensionally by polyisocyanate compounds.

    • PURPOSE:To form double-layered coating films having excellent pitting resis tance, etc., by applying a cation electrodeposition coating material, a barrier coat and aq. intermediate coating material wet on wet under specific conditions and curing the coating materials by heating. CONSTITUTION:The barrier coat consisting essentially of a modified polyolefin resin having -30 to -60 deg.C, more preferably -40 deg. to -50 deg.C static glass transition temp. of the formed coating film is applied on the uncured coating film surface coated with the cation electrodeposition coating material and further, the aq. intermediate coating material is applied thereon. These three-layered coating films are simultaneously cured by heating, by that, by the double layer coating films are formed. The coating material which is 10wt.% or less, more preferably 7wt.% or less in the coating material loss at the time of the curing by heating of the electrodeposition coating film subjected to the removal of moisture is used for the cation electrodeposition coating material at this time. As a result, the coating process is shortened and the double layer coating films having the excellent pitting resistance, finishing characteristic, etc., are obtd.
