    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrodeposition paint having excellent hardenability and long-time-storage-stability which gives an electrodeposition paint film having excellent adhesion at the initial condition and after a humidity test even on a smooth metal substrate surface. SOLUTION: An electrodeposition paint contains (1) the primary emulsion particles in which a resin (A) having hydroxide groups and cationic groups, and an imidazole compound having a molecular weight per an imidazole ring of 68-300 are neutralized by an acid and dispersed stably in an aqueous medium and (2) the secondary emulsion particles containing the resin (A) and a curing agent having two or more functional groups, per a molecule in average, containing an epoxy group in which an epoxy group is bonded to an aliphatic or cyclic structure and/or a bridged aliphatic or cyclic structure, in which secondary emulsion the resin (A) is neutralized by an acid and dispersed stably in an aqueous medium. In the resin (A), the cationic group content is 3-200, on the basis of KOH (mg/g-solid content), and the hydroxide group equivalent is 20-5,000.

    • PURPOSE:To prepare a thermosetting coating composition having excellent weather resistance, waxing resistance, etc., and suitable for the solid color top- coating of automobile body, by using the three components composed of a specific alkyd resin, an acrylic resin and a crosslinking agent as binder components. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains a binder composed of (A) an alkyd resin having an oil length of 5-25%, a hydroxyl value of 40-200, and the composition contained in or falling on the sides of a quadrilateral defined by the four apexes (0.8, 50), (0.8, 90), (1.00, 60) and (1.00, 100) when the value obtained by dividing the total molar number of the polybasic acid in the raw material of the alkyd resin by the total molar number of the polyhydric alcohol (as dibasic acid ratio) as the abscissa, and the mol% of the >=3C glycol component in the polyhydic alcohol as the ordinate, wherein >=20mol% of the polybasic acid component composing the alkyd resin is a saturated alicyclic polybasic acid, (B) an OH-containing acrylic resin having a hydroxyl value of 20-200 and a number average molecular weight of 1,000-30,000, and (C) a crosslinking agent such as aminoaldehyde resin, etc.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrocoating material composition capable of providing electrocoating film excellent in adhesiveness after initial stage and moisture- resistant test on smooth metal substrate surface and excellent in curing property and storage stability. SOLUTION: This cation type electrocoating material composition consists essentially of a material obtained by neutralizing a resin (A) having hydroxyl group and a cationic group with an acid, an epoxy group-containing curing agent (B) having average >=2 epoxy group-containing functional groups obtained by binding an epoxy group to an alicyclic skeleton and/or organic alicyclic skeleton and a material obtained by neutralizing an imidazole compound having 68-300 molecular weight per imidazole ring with an acid and a material obtained by neutralizing an imidazole compound (C) having 68-300 molecular weight per imidazole ring with an acid. The electrocoating material composition is obtained by stably dispersing components A, B and C into an aqueous medium.
