    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal gasket having a structure capable of absorbing the deformation of an elastic seal material formed on an inclined portion of a metal bead when the elastic seal material is deformed to the height of a thickness increased part.
      SOLUTION: The thickness increased part 9 having a large thickness is formed along the peripheral edge of a combustion chamber hole 2. A bead is formed to surround the outer periphery of the thickness increased part. The bead is a composite bead formed of the metal bead 6 and a rubber bead of the elastic seal material fixed to both sides of the metal bead 6. The elastic seal material 12-1 on the projected side of the metal bead 6 is also arranged on the surface of a flat portion 1a of a base plate positioned between the thickness increased part 9 and the metal bead 6. The elastic seal material arranged on the surface of the base plate flat portion 1a is referred to as an elastic seal material 13, and at least part of the elastic seal material 13 is made lower than the thickness increased part 9 so as to operate as a deformation absorbing section.

SOLUTION: The metal gasket 40 includes: the base member 50 made of stainless steel; a galvanizing film 57 formed on the surface of the base member 50; and the rubber film 59 for sealing formed on the surface of the galvanizing film 57. The surface of the galvanizing film 57 is coated with a silane coupling-based vulcanizing adhesive and heated for a predetermined time at a temperature of 100 to 200°C, thereby generating a zinc oxide film 57a on the surface of the galvanizing film 57 and also burning the silane coupling-based vulcanizing adhesive. The rubber film 59 for sealing is formed on the surface of the galvanized coating film by burning vinylidene fluoride-based rubber containing polyol-based vulcanizing agent.
