SOLUTION: A thermal recording medium comprises a recording layer provided on a substrate and having as its main component a colorless or pale color dye precurser and a developer adapted to react with the dye precurser to provide coloring. One or more antibacterial agents are applied to surfaces of the thermal recording medium or contained in an interior thereof.

CONSTITUTION: This compound of formula I (A is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, hydroxy or nitro; R1 to R3 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, hydroxy or nitro or R1 and R2 may be bound to form an aromatic ring; Y is S or O) or formula II (B is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, hydroxy or nitro), e.g. N-(benzenesulfonyl)-p-(phenylurein)benzamide. The compound is obtained by reducing nitro group in an N-arylsulfonyl-nitrobenzamide or an N-acyl- nitrosulfamide into amino group and then condensing the resultant compound with an isocyanate or a thiocyanate. This heat-sensitive recording sheet has high stability without deteriorating the image density even by preservation at high temperatures.

In a heat-sensitive recording medium obtained by providing the surface of a substrate with a recording layer containing, as the main ingredients, a colorless or pale dye precursor and a developer capable of developing color by its reaction with the precursor, or in an optical recording medium having the recording layer containing a light absorber to absorb light to the recording layer to convert it into heat, at least one kind of the compound of formula I or II as a developer is incorporated in the recording layer.

As the coupler, a compd. represented by formula (wherein X is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom and R1 is a nonsubstituted or substituted phenyl group, an aralkyl group, a naphthyl group, a 1-6C lower alkyl group, a 1-6C lower alkenyl group or a 3-6C cycloalkyl group) is used. By this constitution, the thermal recording material capable of being subjected to recording by a thermal head, reduced in the development of a ground color even in hot environment of about 160 deg.C and having excellent image stability against oil is obtained.

CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming material consisting of a basic leuco dye and an org. coupler melted by heat to allow said dye to form a color and a recording layer containing water or an org. solvent-insoluble near infrared absorber and/or water and the org. solvent insoluble near infrared absorber absorbing near infrared rays to emit heat are provided on a base material and a protector transparent to visible light and near infrared rays is provided on the recording layer. Especially, by setting the reflectivity of the surface of the recording layer in the main wavelength of recording laser beam to 15 - 80% and applying reflection preventing treatment to the surface of the protector, recording having high density and high resolving power is obtained by low output recording laser beam. Even when the thickness of the protector is 4mum or more, since the protector is transparent to recording beam, the energy of recording beam can be utilized in color development without being attenuated by matching a condensing point with a thermal color forming surface.
