    • PURPOSE: To provide the subject fabric for car interior that is prepared by integrating the upper layer and the lower layer both of which are mainly made of cellulosic fibers and the interlayer mainly made of hydrophobic fibers by entangling and impregnating the entangled layers with a thermoplastic resin emulsion, has light weight, excellent acoustic properties, and is resistant to cracking. CONSTITUTION: The upper layer and the lower layer mainly made of cellulosic fibers (preferably >=70 wt.% is cellulosic) and the interlayer mainly made of hydrophobic fibers (for example, polyester fibers, polyamide fibers, polyacrylonitrile fibers and the like) are integrated by entangling, and the entangled product is impregnated with an emulsion of a thermoplastic resin (for example, acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer resin, ABS resin, styrene-butadiene rubber or the like, preferably having a glass transition point of 100-120 deg.C) whereby the objective base material is obtained that is suitable as a car interior material, for example, the ceiling material, the rear package, the door trim and the like.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a lightweight and flame retardant floor carpet by forming the floor carpet specified in surface density from a base material layer and a fiber assembly layer contg. thermally nonfusible fibers. SOLUTION: The lightweight and flame retardant floor carpet adequately used in automobiles includes the base material layer and the fiber assembly layer contg. the thermally nonfusible fibers and is so formed that its surface density attains . The thermally nonfusible fibers are so produced as to occupy 1 to 70% of the mass of the floor carpet. The base material layer is used to fix the fiber assembly layer, etc., to impart form stability to the floor carpet and to impart moldability thereto. A base material layer mainly composed of a polyolefin resin is preferably used as the base material layer. The thermally nonfusible fibers are preferably rayon fibers. The fiber assembly layer for which needle punch non-woven fabrics, etc., are used is so disposed as to occupy 3 to 70% of the mass of the carpet.
