    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a lower alcohol ester of a highly purified and highly unsaturated fatty acid capable of industrially and inexpensively producing a lower alcohol ester of a highly purified EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid) or DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) without inducing heat-denaturation thereof, and to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: This method for purifying a lower alcohol ester of a highly purified and highly unsaturated fatty acid purifies a lower alcohol ester of a highly purified and highly unsaturated fatty acid from a lower alcohol ester mixture of an unsaturated fatty acid. The purification method comprises a process of preliminarily extracting the lower alcohol ester component of the highly unsaturated fatty acid by molecular distillation of the lower alcohol ester mixture of the unsaturated fatty acid, a process of extracting the lower alcohol ester concentrated component of the highly unsaturated fatty acid by vacuum distillation of the lower alcohol ester component of the extracted highly unsaturated fatty acid, and a process of differentially purifying the lower alcohol ester of the highly purified and highly unsaturated fatty acid by subjecting the lower alcohol ester of the extracted highly unsaturated fatty acid to a high-performance liquid chromatography by using a filler of a reverse phase partition system.
