CONSTITUTION:Intermediate rolls 7, 7' and large diameter work rolls 18, 18' supported by these are disposed between upper and lower stay rolls 1, 1'. Furthermore, the rolls 18, 18' are supported capable of horizontal bending by the split rolls 13, 13' through single supporting rolls 19, 19'. At the time of exchanging the work rolls, the upper and lower rolls supporting blocks 4, 4' incorporating each roll are opened by operating a clearance adjusting device 2 and the rolls 19, 19' are detached together with the rolls 18, 18' and the bearing block 22. Then, the minimum diameter work roll (figure is omitted) is set and the large diameter supporting roll making the rolls 7, 7' to support it is set together with its bearing block. This bearing block is inserted and supported sharing with the guide 23 of the thrust block.

CONSTITUTION:The small diameter work rolls 13, 13', support rolls 19, 19' for bending these rolls horizontally, split rolls 18, 18 for pressing these, etc., are incorporated and supported freely attachably and detachably into the support blocks 4, 4' for the rolls, and the blocks 4, 4' are made possible to control the upper and lower positions and to take out from a housing 1 in the axial direction.     • PURPOSE:To exactly detect and control a roll gap in roll barrel parts and to improve the dimensional accuracy of a product by detecting the gap of the barrel parts by roll gap detectors and controlling a hydraulic control valve by the deviation between the detected value and a reference gap. CONSTITUTION:The gaps y1-y4 in the roll barrel parts are detected by the position-adjustable roll gap detectors 19, 20 and the change rate DELTAy of the roll gap which is the average value thereof is calculated by an arithmetic unit 24. The DELTAy is corrected to the change rate DELTAx of the gap in a vertical direction by a device 25 for correcting an angle of inclination and an elastic change rate DELTAxe is added thereto in an adder 29, by which the change rate DELTAxD the roll gap is calculated. The deviation DELTAx'D between the DELTAxD and the reference quantity DELTAx0 is calculated in an adder 31 and the control valve 38 is controlled by such deviation, by which the rolling reduction is controlled. Since the roll gap is exactly detected in the barrel parts and the control is executed, the dimensional accuracy of the product is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately measure roll gaps without influences of rolling oil and vibration by installing a noncontact type roll gap detector whose height is to be adjustable on the top and the bottom of a block movable in the rolling direction. CONSTITUTION:A block 13 is slidably fitted in a guide member 12, levers 15 and 16 are supported to be capable of opening and closing in the appearance of scissors appearance on a pin 14, and eddy current type roll gap detectors 19 and 20 are fixed to respective top heads 17 and 18 of the levers 15 and 16. For measurement of roll gaps, gaps y1 and y2 are measured by moving a piston rod 22 left, adjusting an opening angle of the levers 15 and 16, and fixing them with a fixture 21. The prescribed control valve is controlled in proportion to gap variation amounts for controlling oil amounts to a screw down cylinder. The detectors 19 and 20 accurately detect the gaps because the noncontact type detectors are not affected by the rolling oil and vibrations cause variations only due to a relative position.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the size of construction by supporting one work roll by an intermediate roll and support rolls and supporting the other work roll by an intermediate roll and divided type back up rolls in such a manner that the roll can be pushed horizontally at both sides. CONSTITUTION:The small-sized and chockless upper work roll 3 is supported by the upper intermediate roll 2 and is further supported by the support rolls 8, 9 disposed on the upper and down stream sides of a pass line 5. The small- diameter and chockless lower work roll 12 is pulled and supported by a spring 13 to the lower intermediate roll 11 and is supported by the divided type back up rolls 16, 17. The work rolls 3, 12 are supported in a manner as to offset to the down to the down stream side of the pass line 5. The fluctuation in the horizontal deflection of the work rolls 3, 12 is prevented and the shape control power is improved by such mechanism. The size of the work rolls is thus made smaller and the size of the construction smaller.
