摘要： PURPOSE: To remove the suspended matter in a water to be treated and to decompose org. matter by packing a filter tower with a filter medium carrying titanium dioxide to form a filter bed and passing the water introduced into the tower through the bed. CONSTITUTION: The filter 1 consists of a filter tower 2, and a filter medium is accumulated on a water-permeable supporting plate 3 in the tower 2 to form a filter bed 4. The filter medium consists of a quartz sand with titanium dioxide fixed to its surface. The water is introduced into the treating tank through an inlet pipe 5 and an oxidizing agent through a feed pipe 6. The water is passed through the filter bed 4, filtered discharged from a discharge pipe 7 as treated water. The filter medium of the filter 1 is regenerated by introducing water into the tower 2 from the discharge pipe 7 and air from an air pipe 8 to fluidize the bed 4, separating and cleaning the suspended matter depositing on the filter medium and discharging the cleaning water from the inlet pipe 5. The air is exhausted from an exhaust pipe 9.

At this time, the photocatalyst particle content of each of the polymer particles is 0.1 to 80wt.% based on the weight of the polymer particle. The photocatalyst bodies are irradiated with light of a wavelength having higher energy than the band gap of the photocatalyst in the presence of the harmful substances to be treated.
