    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the coincidence between an induction voltage appearing between unenergized zones generated by the rotation of a rotor and commutation timing, and to provide a drive method of a brushless motor that can properly be driven in a sensor-less manner on the basis of the determination. SOLUTION: The drive method of the brushless motor filter-processes the induction voltage appearing in a stator by the rotation of the rotor, and energizes the brushless motor by determining the commutation timing when driving the brushless motor in the sensor-less manner. The drive method is also characterized in that: it is determined whether or not the phase of the induction voltage appearing between the unenergized zones and the commutation timing coincide with each other by detecting the inclination of the induction voltage appearing between the unenergized zones; the induction voltage obtained by the filter-processing is commutated when the phase and the commutation timing coincide with each other; and when they do not coincide, the induction voltage is forcibly commutated at timing that corresponds to the number of revolutions that is instructed. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet rotor comprises a yoke 14a made of a laminated steel sheet 100 and rotatably provided adjacently to a stator. In this rotor, the yoke is perforated with a slot 14c for housing a field permanent magnet 16. The magnet 16 is covered with a coating material to form a coating layer 24, a freely cuttable protrusion 24a is formed at an outside of the layer 24.
