    • NEW MATERIAL:The imidazole derivative of formula I (R

      EXAMPLE: 1-[N-(2-Chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-2-ethoxypropaneimidoyl]-imidazole.
      USE: An agricultural or horticultural fungicide or seed disinfectant. It has broad fungicidal activity, and exhibits excellent controlling effect against various plant blights, especially rust and powdery mildew of wheat, helminthosporium leaf spot of rice, bean, etc., blast of rice, mildew of cucumber, water melon, etc. at a low rate of application. It is harmless to useful crops, and free from toxicity to man, animal and fish, and can be used safely.
      PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula II (X is halogen) with imidazole of formula III preferably in an or ganic solvent, if necessary in the presence of an acid acceptor such as triethylamine, under ice cooling at 0W100°C for ≤1hr.
