    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a monitoring of a culture medium component by simple and low-cost constitution and method in a culture apparatus for adhesion-dependent cells. SOLUTION: Cells are pasted to the bottom of a platy culture container and cultured. Using a filmy optical sensor having merits of low cost, simplicity, small size, a small amount of a culture medium used, etc., carries out the monitoring of a culture medium. The sensor is installed on the ceiling surface of a recessed part formed at the bottom side part of the culture container and oppositely to the bottom of the culture container. Using the culture medium itself or a culture medium into which cells are dispersed calibrates the sensor. Hereby, the apparatus and the method, with which the pasted cells are excellently cultured, adverse effects of the sensor on cells are avoided and the calibration of the sensor is simply and accurately carried out, are provided. In the manual photographing mode, the moving means are controlled based on the inputted operation command and the local image of an arbitrary position is photographed by the camera and displayed on the display.

The second culture container 2200 is also connected to a third culture container 2300, 2302, 2304 or 2306 through a subculture flow channel 2205. The subculture is performed on a surface tension produced in the subculture flow channel 2105 or 2205 and a centrifugal force produced by rotating a disk 2000 according to the principle of siphon. Culture media, or the like, are taken out from the culture containers 2100, 2200 or 2300, and the like, respectively, and new culture media are supplied with a pipetter, thus automating the cell culture. Thereby, the works related to the cell culture can be automated without causing the contamination to cells and without giving stress to the cells. A large amount of cells can automatically be cultured.

The device has: two or more of conductors connecting to the rotator; stators comprising stator cores and stator windings, which face each other with the rotor in between; a power source for rotating magnetic field generation, which provides the stator windings with alternating current for generating a rotating magnetic field; an electromagnetic noise detection means to detect electromagnetic noise made by the stators and the rotor of the direct-drive scanner rotation mechanism, where the rotor is rotated by the rotating magnetic field generated as mentioned above; an input setting means for setting an acceptable sound pressure level of electromagnetic noise; and a means to control a power voltage that the power source applies to the stators in order to increase the rotation number of the rotor at or below the sound pressure level set with the input setting means based on output signals of the electromagnetic noise detection means.
