    • PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform illuminance on a light receiving element to reduce the thickness of a read sensor by forming a light emitting element and the light receiving element of a linear light source unified contact read sensor with linear EL light emission sources and arranging them on substrates. CONSTITUTION:A light source part 2 consists of a back electrode 6, a first insulating layer 7, an EL emission source 8, a second insulating layer 9, and a transparent electrode 10 formed on a substrate 5, and they are covered with a protective layer 11. A light reception part 1 consists of a photoelectric conversion layer 12, an electrode 13, and a protective layer 11. The substrate 5 of the light reception part and that of the light source part are sealed with a humidity resisting resin (sealing material) so that they are not exposed to moisture in the air. In this case, they are so adhered that the maximum luminance part of the EL emission source is just under an incidence window of the light reception part 1. A light shielding film 15 is provided under the photoelectric conversion part of the light reception part 1. An original 4 is irradiated with illuminating light 3 from the light source part 2, and the reflected light reflecting the contrast of the original is detected by the light reception part 1. Since the light source part 2 is placed on the rear face of the light reception part 1, a special optical system is unnecessary to simplify the structure.

    • PURPOSE:To relieve the dispersion of a read signal due to the dispersion in a light source by providing a reference element photoelectric-converting the direct light from a light source lighting an original and a read element photoelectric-converting the reflected light from the original onto a transparent base. CONSTITUTION:A read element 2 does not directly receive the light from a light source 14 because of the presence of a light shield film 102a but applies photoelectric-conversion to the reflected light in an original 11. On the other hand, a reference element 1 applies direct photoelectric-conversion to the light from the light source 14 and the light shield film 108 prevents the reception of the reflected light from the original 11. Thus, the output of the element 2 is proportional to the illuminance and the reflectance of the original 11 and the output of the element 1 is proportional to a radiation intensity of the light source 14. Thus, when the output of the element 1 is used to correct the output of the element 2, an output depending only on the reflectance independently of the uneven illuminance of the original, that is, the uneven radiation intensity of the light source is extracted.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to sufficiently enhance printing quality even if mechanical processing accuracy is not sufficient, by forming a heat generating resistor pattern at a connection end part into a shape different from that of the other heat generating resistor pattern so as to reduce a pattern interval. CONSTITUTION:Corresponding wiring patterns 3 are respectively provided to half substrates 1, 2 each having a size capable of forming heat generating resistors in the number 1/2 the total number of heat generating resistors necessary for a thermal head and heat generating resistors 4 are formed between said patterns 3. In this case, the heat generating resistor 6 formed at the position nearest to the connection part 5 of each substrate is formed so that the lateral width thereof about 1.5 times the width of each heat generating resistor 4 by expanding one edge thereof toward the connection end 5 and the edge of the expanded end coincides with the edge of the connection part 5 and, thereafter, the end surface of the connection part 5 is ground to chamfer the upper edge corner part by about 10mum and both substrates are integrally mounted on one heat sink by an adhesive while the center shift of the heat generating resistors 4, 6 on both substrates and the mounting step of the half substrates 1, 2 onto the heat sink are controlled.

    • PURPOSE: To enable an electric element to be equipped in high density by face down connecting a heat generation resistance body and the electric element with both wirings thereof are laid around directly under the electric element.
      CONSTITUTION: An IC2 is face down bonded to the wirings 3-3 under an IC. In this case, the wirings are drawn from the straight sections radiating in all directions with a suitable angle respectively, and the widths between the wirings are increased as approaching to the end sections thereof. Therefore, a short circuit and disconnections between the wiring conductors are not caused. A scattering of the picture quality due to a voltage drop is decreased, since the scattering of a resistance between the wiring conductors and the voltage drop are decreased owing to the extended width between the wirings. An improvement of manufacturing yield, a quality and making an equipment to high density of a substrate are made possible by this constitution.
