    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube that has a shadow mask for effectively reducing warp produced in the skirt part of the pressed shadow mask and preventing concentrated stress from being impressed on a perforated part in fitting the skirt part to a support frame. SOLUTION: In a color cathode-ray tube provided with a shadow mask composed of a perforated part 5U having a large number of electron beam passing holes, a non-perforated part 5N communicating with the perforated part 5U in the periphery of the perforated part 5U and a skirt part 5S vertically extended and bent from the edges of the non-perforated part 5N and in which the skirt part 5S is spot-welded to a support frame to fix it to the inside of a panel part, plural swelled parts 131-138, 141-1412 which extend throughout the entire peripheries of the longer sides and shorter sides of the shadow mask 5 in the height direction of the skirt part 5S are formed. Then, for each of the swelled parts 131-138, 141-1412, a depth P, width D, and distance L between the largest part of the depth and the edge part of the perforated part 5U are selected to be in the range of 0.2-1.0 mm, of 4.0-12.0 mm and not less than 4.5 mm, respectively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube that prevents its skirt part from warping and requires only easier assembly of its shadow mask assembly with no rise in manufacturing cost and in magnetic reluctance. SOLUTION: A color cathode-ray tube comprises a fluorescent screen formed on its panel part, a shadow mask assembly opposed to the screen in the panel part, an electron gun held in its neck part and a deflection yoke mounted on the periphery of its funnel part. The shadow mask assembly is constituted of a shadow mask 6 having a perforated part 6U with electron-beam passing holes, a solid part 6N extending from the overall circumferential edge of the perforated part 6U and a skirt part 6S extending downward from the overall circumferential edge of the solid part 6N, and of a support frame for supporting the skirt part 6S tight. The skirt part 6S is formed in its every side with at least one recession 14 having a width from 2 to 30 mm and such a depth as not to reach the lower edge of the skirt part 6S.
